Has anyone used this? I kept hearing really good things about it & I have yet to notice much of a difference on my hair. Usually I can wash my hair every other day (maybe 2), but it seems like my hair is just *alright* after blow drying and it def. looks crappy after the second day. Maybe I'm using too much? I've tried using like half a dime size. By the way, I have thick hair- its usually wavy if I let it dry naturally.
I this stuff! I buy it in bulk. I have wavy hair, and I like it because it doesn't dry "crunchy" like gel does and it doesn't feel greasy like some of the silicone products. And it totally smoothes out my frizzies.
I don't blow dry my hair straight, so I'm not sure if it would still work for that. It's pretty light, so you may need something stronger to relax your waves.
hmmm - this is weird - where did you get it? if you got it at a place like nordstroms or sephora, i would try seeing if you can exchange it for another tube - maybe you got a bad one. sometimes in products with primarily natural ingredients (like aveda or burt's bees) the batches don't all come out good. an aveda salesperson probably won't readily admit that to you, but i worked for aveda for almost two years and we knew this was definitely true. also i love burts bees but i've had some sticks that aren't so great.
anyway, i have naturally thick and wavy hair, and i LOVE phytodefrisant - it just makes my hair much less frizzy and slightly shinier (though if i really want shine, i'll add a product after my hair is dry.)
i haven't noticed ANY greasiness or negative effects after the first day, so this is sounding to me like maybe you just got a bad tube!
jj - do you just buy alot of tubes at once or do you know a way to get a bigger size? for awhile they had some huge tubes but it seems like those are discontinued. :(
it's so expensive i never have enough $ to buy more than one tube at once, but if i could figure out a way to buy more at once for less $ per ounce, that would be awesome!!
i always use it after washing whether or not i'm going to blow dry it or air dry, wear it straight or curly.
i use about a nickel size, and my hair is long, past my shoulders.
do you have the salon receipt or is it one that takes your name and keeps track of your purchases? i'm hating that this isn't working for you, b/c i ADORE this product!!
FYI, the nicest "straight" hair i can achieve is when i blow dry my hair till it's almost dry, and then pin it all up but the bottom layer, and then finish each layer with a brush that has a mixture of boar bristles and plastic bristles (my hair is too thick to use just boar bristles, they don't "grab" it enough.) this always ends up looking much nicer then when i did the blow dry and then the flat iron, which is what i used to do.
nowadays, i mostly wear my hair naturally wavy, supposedly to save my hair from damage, but mostly b/c i'm lazy.
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have naturally wavy/curly hair, and I wear it that way every day, so I'm curious, what does this product do for your girls' wavy hair? I just wash mine, scrunch it and throw in some mousse right now.
Hermione, I never knew about the potential to get a bad batch - I will definitely remember this and take something back if it's a dud.
Jess, I put about a quarter size amount of phyto in my hair when it's wet. I divide it into 4 sections (top, sides, back) and put a small amount in each section (so it doesn't all glob in one area). I let it air dry for 10 minutes while I eat breakfast, then it takes about 10 minutes to blowdry with a diffuser. If I don't use a diffuser, I would have a fro My hair is a little shorter than shoulder-length.
Oops, almost forgot to add that Sephora sold a larger bottle in the fall, it was $30 for double the regular amount. And there's a small pharmacy by my office that sells it - if I buy 5 bottles, they give me a 10% discount. Plus, they always have small/trial size tubes that they give away and they're awesome for travel.

If I let my hair dry au natural, without any product in it, it's frizzy with huge corkscrew curls. Phyto relaxes the curls so they're wavy, it completely eliminates any frizz and makes my hair shiny (I should be a spokesperson!). It's better than gel, which is stiff and crunchy, and mousse, which makes my hair poufy.

i am DYING of jealousy right now, they just give you those little ones? and a discount? dammit!!!

for me, when i wear my hair wavy, it might naturally look somewhat frizzy, maybe a little rough if i let it dry naturally - especially the frizzies around the face - this takes away about 90% of the frizz, and it doesn't have the shine or weird texture that sometimes mousse does for me - it feels like you've got no product in your hair at all, just completely natural frizz-free hair!
unlike JJ, i've never experienced any relaxing by phytodefrisant, but my hair is very resistant to relaxers, perms, most anything i want to do to it
i have very thick, wavy/curly hair just past my shoulders that turns into curly, frizzy afro city if i don't use products on it, and this thread has sold me on phytodefrisant.
I third jj and hermione on the magic of this product. It really does eliminate most of the frizz when you don't straighten your hair and makes it so much easier when you do blow dry or flat iron. I love this stuff.
