I'm seriously contemplating starting my own business and am researching loans, etc. Does anyone have any experience in this that could offer some guidance? TIA!

I used to be a small business loan officer & we also had an SBA lending arm, i would be happy to point you in the right direction - do you have a busines plan written or are you just in brain storming mode?

Look into your city for grants as well!  But more than anything have a solid business plan.  The SBA website has sample business plans for you to look at.

I'm not sure about in the US, but we have special small business grants and things exclusively for women. Maybe look into that too.

My only advice for you is write a business plan once you have all of your details polished out.  If you don't feel comfortable writing it yourself, I would hire an expert to help you in the right direction.  Good luck.  Starting your own business is scary and I wish I could do it.  I just need to grow the courage to start the process!
