Do you have colors you wear when you are down with post-holiday blahs? Due to a bizarre accident suffered by DH we missed all holiday parties, trips to visit relatives, and our winter get-away vacation.
If I have to go to work and I am down, I'll reach for my favorite black Theory pants and a top or sweater I know always looks good and is comfy too.
I can't say I go for any particular colors, I just go for things I know I have received compliments on before, something that fits well so I am not worrying about my clothes not feeling right on me.
If I'm home I'll either stay in pj's all day or velour or terry sweats and sneakers. It's all about comfort when I feel blue.
Sorry to hear about DH's accident and your holidays and trip not happening. I hope things are better now and hopefully you can have another trip after he is totally recovered.
DH has these really ugly really thin sweat pants that I love, they are like 5 sizes too big for me and soooo comfy!! He also got this big like periwinkle sweatshirt hoodie from his old job that is also huge and I adopted that too. It is now officially my sick/depressed house outfit! I love putting it on and lounging around the house in it. So warm and roomy and comfy!
yeah, i think for the most part i just wear/ look like crap, which doesn't help.
ETA: actually, sometimes if i'm feeling down and not in the mood to make myself presentable, and i do it anyway, i actually feel better. i should remember that.

I do that too. when I am feelin down I try and spruce myself up just that much and I end up feeling better
Maven, I'm so sorry you've had a rough couple months! I had a horrible head cold a few weeks ago and felt like crap - so I only wore my softest cashmere sweaters and made sure to do my make up every day.
My grandma just passed away, and it has thrown me into a crummy mood again, so it's back to the cashmere. And I got my eyebrows waxed yesterday to help me feel more put-together.
I always pull out the black sweaters and black pants when I'm feeling blah. If anyone at my office ever cared and/or paid attention, they'd know exactly how I was feeling based on my outfits. As a matter of fact, I'm wearing black pants and a black sweater right now. I'm not actually in a bad mood today though. I just woke up late and had to grab the easiest thing.
The good thing about wearing all black is that 1) it looks good on me so I don't look so pale and washed out and 2) it's slimming! So it really serves a dual purpose. I look better and I feel better because I get to show the outside world how I'm feeling. I'm such a drama queen!!
Thanks for all your comments. No wonder I was feeling depressed, I was just coming down with some kind of 24-hour bug. Much better now.
And now I realize I have a big gap in my wardrobe. I don't have any comfy lounging clothes. I cleaned up my wardrobe and tossed out all the oversized men's sweatpants a year ago. (For some reason DH is always acquiring sweatpants he doesn't use.)
Now I'm going to look for a nice lounging around outfit.
