I haven't seen the movie but I want to. I really like James Franco.
I know this only bothers me because I'm in the Navy, but that picture where he's standing with his hands in his coat pockets is driving me crazy. That's definitely a uniform regulation no-no!
havn't seen it- but i think its crazy that they made a movie sorta about my hometown. was annapolis the town featured at all- or just the naval academy? its still weird when i hear the trailor and they say the name all dramatically- its such a quaint town with not much to do. i wouldn't even expect people not from the east coast to know where it was. so strange to me that they chose that as the movie name.
This isn't my kind of movie at all but I'm kind of tempted to see it because I went to h.s. with the actress in it and I've never seen any of her other movies so I'm a bit curious.
lynnie - I would think most people are probably familiar with the name Annaopolis just as a reference to the Naval Academy. It seems to come up in the media a lot - news, other movies. Like most people are unfamiliar with West Point NY but everyone knows about West Point the school. BTW my family and I spent a night or two in Annapolis when I was little and I remember thinking it was cool and going to a bunch of different attractions. But I guess my parents are also huge nerds so I'm sure they found every single historic site to drag us to.
I grew up in south-central Pennsylvania, about 13 miles north of Maryland, and when I was growing up we went down to Annapolis a few times. It's so pretty there. My grandfather was in the Navy so sometimes we went to Army/Navy games with him. Lynnie, I remember seeing this store called Hats in My Bellfry that only sold hats, and I wanted so bad to go in there and get a bunch of hats.
I live just outside of Annapolis. I was on the yard this past weekend as a matter of fact. I haven't seen the movie yet but heard, as would be expected, there are some stark contrasts to what it's actually like at the Academy. Also, most of the scenes were apparently filmed in Philadelphia.
