Which ipod should I keep?
Permalink Closed

We have a serious ipod surplus at our house & I need help. My DH just got the new video ipod given to him because he helped out a guy at work with some computer issues. He has a shuffle & a mini (both given to him free as well). I have a 4th gen 20 GB which i do like.

He wants to sell 2, so I am trying to figure out which one to keep. I do like mine, but I use it primarily for travel & walking, so would I be better off keeping the shuffle? I think i'd rather keep my big one than trade it in for the mini (blue, if that matters) & the 20 GB doesn't go for THAT much on ebay anyway - well, $180, but really it's not up for sale unless i want it to be.

He said I could keep the shuffle & the 20GB if i wanted, but I feel bad because he is putting the money he gets for them toward a watch he wants & is saving up for. Of course I could always just give him the money he'd get for the shuffle & then I wouldn't feel guilty right? But do I really need both?

Oh the decision....

I'd keep the mini and the new video one. The video one is just cool. The mini is cute and still holds a ton of songs. The big ipod is bulky to me and the shuffle is cheap-it doesn't even have a screen on it right? This is just my opinion though!

Keep the video and the 20. I think minis are so stupid and personally I'd be annoyed at having to switch music on and off. Isn't that the point of an iPod that you can have your entire music library at your fingertips? Also I don't really get why people think regular iPods are too big. Not even a year ago I was carrying around a CD player and a book of CDs.

well, my DH sold the mini yesterday for more than they are going for on ebay, so that's not even an option now. And the video one is "his" - we don't share ipods- our music taste is VERY different & we just don't do it. So now I just have to decide rather or not to keep the shuffle or not. I'm not ready to give up my big one & he isn't asking me to really, so i'm not. I'm going to play with the shuffle this weekend, maybe bring them both on my walks next week & see how I feel then!

Thanks for the opinions though.

I had a mini but it broke right after the warranty was up and I replaced it with a shuffle.  The shuffle works ok for me but I only use it for working out.  It serves it's purpose well because I don't need playlists or anything.  I also like that I can just wear it around my neck, it's really easy.  You might really like using it for your workouts.  For this purpose I definitely prefer it over the mini I had.

Definitely get rid of the shuffle.  It doesn't hold too many songs, there's no screen, and I don't think you can even choose what song you want to listen to next.
