Please help.

My grandparent's are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this summer. Which is wonderful. The original idea was to celebrate with a week in Jamaica. Unfortunately that is out of the picture, my dad lost his job recently.

So now my Aunt wants to do a quaint trip- St. Michaels, Maryland. I am not against the idea by any means, it sounds very pretty and nice, but I am 23! Basically we would be on the eastern shore of the chesapeake, we'd rent a boat, have a pool, there are apparently shopping areas. However, nothing too exciting for say Me, my sis and My cousins we are: 24 (going to be), 22, 18 and 14.

If you have been there, can you post a review? Maybe I could feel better.

If you have taken a nice trip on the east coast, preferably in the mid-atlantic area (NJ, DE, MD, VA) can you give some ideas?

Two of my close friends got married in St. Michaels this summer.  Everyone kept talking about the Wedding Crashers connection, but I am a big dope and STILL haven't seen the movie.


Anyway, St. Michaels is really cute and picturesque.  It reminded me a lot of Nantucket because everyone is really preppy and it appeals to the boating crowd. 


It's quiet too.  My friends and I went to lunch and shopped one afternoon, and we all noticed that the people on vacation there were middle-aged or older.  You would probably be able to go out to some of the local bars, but there definitely isn't a raging nightlife or lots of young people.


It may be more fun to rent a house at the beach in Rehobeth or Bethany, DE.  There are tons of houses for rent there and there would be enough to keep your grandparents, parents and 20-somethings happy.

I guess my opnion is that it's a family trip so you'll mostly be hanging out with them anyway. What do you need other than restaurants your parents are paying for and a beach? What'd you guys want to do?

ohhh! i think you should go to cape henelopen/ lewes delaware! it's simply gorgeous there, quiet enough for the older crowd, gorgeous scenery, and close enough to rehobeth and ocean city, md for you and your younger relatives to go to at night. plus, there is a really cool ferry across the bay to cape may nj which is great as well. lewes is quieter, but the town is simply stunning and i think any grandparent would love to spend time here. lots of antique shops, and history and such. plus, the beach is totally family friendly so the older generation can sit on the beach without worrying about packs of teenagers all over the place. and there are condos that are for rent which are actually prolly cheaper than anywhere else on the shore. here are some pictures: (i don't know what happend at the bottom picture, but you get the idea)
