Dennis Quaids "dick flick"comment makes no sense. Who writes such garbage?
A "chick flick' has a targeted female demographic, BBMountain wasn't targeted towards a male demographic. The phrase "Dick flick" connotes pornography and BBMountain was far from it. Why use a reference to genitalia? It was a love story, not a sex story.
I thought that his comment was really tacky, stupid, and belittling to a really great film.
I'm also really sick of homophobic journalists (and Jay Leno) making unwarranted allusions to beastiality, allusions that would never be made if the movie revolved around a hetero couple. And Gene Shalit in his review referred to Jack Twist as a "sexual predator." Jack may have made the first move, but "predator?!" Ennis was an adult and everything was consensual, "predator" (in my mind) connotes "sex offender." Oh and did I mention that this was a love story and not a sex story?
i didn't see it, but i am assuming he didn't make that up--all the presenter super-hilarious jokes are written before hand by writers--they just read them off the teleprompters. the only people not reading are the winners when they give their acceptance speeches.
i didn't see it either but it certainly does surprise me, since i remember dennis quaid's portrayal of a homosexual husband in far from heaven w/ julianne moore. his performance was critically acclaimed and i think he may even have been given an award for it?

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that Dennis Quaid came up with the "joke." That's what I meant by "who writes this?" I assumed that the writers have several days/weeks to edit, improve and reevaluate their jokes and with the (presumably big) $$ they make that they could come up with something that's funny. It just struck me as fratboy humor.
