Don't start a new pack until the Sunday after your period starts. For example, If you started yesterday you would start this coming Sunday- not until then. If you don't get your period you should find out why (maybe it's on a little 9 month vacation - j/k?) could be stress related (this has happened to me).Bottom line is don't start the pill until you get you period.
I would call your doctor or pharmacist and see what they think. The particular pill I'm on causes me to completely skip periods all the time, and my doctor has me just continue to take it as planned. If you don't start taking it on Sunday, you should def. use some back up birth control.
p.s. - detroit you just kinda scared me a little so i just took another PT (had one in my bathroom) and it still says not pregnant sooooooo i'm pretty sure i'm ok just wacky body!
I'm sorry! But I'm also reeeeeeeeeeealy happy for you!

2nd. I was always told to start the new pack even if you didn't get your period, b/c people occasionally "skip" a period on the pill for whatever reason. I'd call the pharmacist tomorrow.

yeah me too :) maybe by some miracle, god decided to take away the curse of the period?
omg - wouldn't that be great... I cannot tell you how many problems I have... the girl that cut my hair told me about Yasmin - I think I may try that one next if my dr. ok's it - different levels of hormones and it made the hairstylist lose a bunch of weight - something that's a constant battle for me and I know the pill probably has something to do with it...
sorry for the hijack!

don't mean to continue the hijack, but have you tried Seasonale? Or taking another bcp continuously?
btw, I used to take Yasmin & liked it.

all I've tried are cyclical products and non cyclical, and different levels of hormones. refresh my memory - how does seasonale work again? shots 4x a year or something? what do you mean by taking another pill continuously? if you mean trying another brand - yeah - been down that road more times than I can remember... the one I'm currently on is screwing me up (or it could just be me) so I thought I'd have nothing to lose (but a little weight!) with the yasmin. did you find you didn't have as much water retention and lost a couple of pounds with the yasmin?

i don't know if you meant that for detroit or me - prob detroit
BUT
i've considered both of these - i HATE my period.
BUT, since i started alesse, it's really not bad at all - alesse is very low hormone and my once crazy heavy and long and painful period is light and short, with comparitively very little cramping.
i think i may just like the reassurance of getting my period once a month ...

that would be so great if there were a pill that would just eliminate a period all together...

I would DEFINITELY take the pill on Sunday when you're supposed to. The reason I say this is because while you're on the pill your periods are totally superficial--they don't mean a thing. Not getting your period this month is not a big deal and won't hurt anything.
If you don't take the pill this Sunday like you should, you're basically throwing off your schedule and you may end up with a span of time where you're completely unprotected from pregnancy.
If you're unsure still, call your pharmacist, or if they're not open tomorrow, there should be an 800 number somewhere on your pill pack, so you could call the pharmaceutical company.
actually my doc has tried to convince me that there is no need for me to have a period at all. she actually prescribes my BC so that i don't have to take any of the sugar pills - she has three daughters and she said that neither she nor they have their periods - they just take their active pills continuosly -
if she and her kids do it, i'm pretty sure she's secure in the safety of doign this - i've been considering it, like i said -
i've been having her prescribe them like that though and then still having a week off a month just so i can save money on the meds
