I found the book at Borders-it's a fast read only @50 pages. Though i haven't seen the movie, the reviews I have read make it sound like the movie does follows the book very well.  The book had the same sparseness as the movie seems to.  I thought the reader was lead to believe that Jack was murdered, but it was never clearly stated.

i am going to try to see it by myself if i get a chance.  but the closest place that is showing it is an hour away.  i live in kind of a small place with nothing good around.  i have to drive at least an hour to do any decent shopping.  but i really want to see this movie.  so i'll give it a shot
