I didn't want to hijack GucciGal's thread, but I'm really interested in trying Pilates, but I want to do it at home. I'm slim, but I need to get more toned and so many of you speak highly of Pilates. For you girls who do Pilates, can you please recommend a good tape/dvd for me to buy? Ideally, it'd be nice to get one that combines beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
Good post ShopChicago... After reading guccigals post, I am now interested in doing pilates as well...Id like to hear what videos others recommend,

I have the Winsor Pilates one. Mine is a 3-DVD set, with a Basic, 20 minute & advanced version. I loved them, but don't do them much since I moved, since I don't have a room with both floor space and no dog access. (My dog thinks me on the floor=invitation to be jumped on.)
I don't know of a great set for beginners and intermediate/advanced, but these are my two reccs:
As a beginner, I loved Denise Austin's yoga and pilates combo tape, and I still do it sometimes. It's got two workouts - one strictly pilates and one mostly yoga with some pilates. The pilates part explains proper form, and she reminds you of correct form throughout, which is really important to get maximum benefit. The exercises she covers are pretty much all the basics, and you can just keep improving your form as you get better. Her voice bugs, but after a few times, you can mute it.
My all-time favorite (it's more advanced) is the Gaiam Pilates abs workout. It's awesome. I still find it challenging, after 4 years of (at times intermittent) pilates. it!

Shopchicago - I have the one you mentioned. I really like it a lot. It is really good for beginners, but has some more advanced workouts too. I think it is a really good buy.
I have 2 of the Gaiam dvds that someone else mentioned. they are pretty good but a vastly different style from my actual classes at the gym i took, so i rarely do them.

I have it as well, I lent it to my sister for about a year & she swears by it. I haven't done it in a long time (see weight issues post! HA). But I saw it in the store at Target - I'll check to see if they have it online as well. I got mine for the cheesy infomercial & I think they still air it.
ETA: I just googled it & it's all over the internet - they have their own site. I'm not sure if that's the cheapest you can get it because to be honest I stopped looking, but it's worth checking out.
