Mikacat, I do this too - we save change and I roll it as the jar gets full, then keep it until holiday season. Usually it gets us $150 or so by December to deposit into our account. It makes a small, but helpful dent in our holiday spending.

I am always looking for beauty and health and home samples online and I do get alot. I also use coupons for free stuff I find on line oh and rebates that I find on line
I'm new at this "saving money" stuff. I've pretty much always been a spender other than my brief infatuation with triple coupons at the grocery store. But I've gotten in trouble lately w/ hubby for spending too much, so now I'm going cold turkey. Here's some stuff I'm doing/plan to do:
cut coupons (even though there are no double or triple stores here )
Gathering stuff we don't use anymore (clothes, electronics, etc) and ebaying it instead of giving it to charity. That probably sucks, but right now I need that money!
Packing my kids' lunches when we go on car trips instead of eating out or drive-thru.
Packing hubby's lunch instead of him eating in the office cafe
Buy all my kids' clothes a year in advance when they're on super clearance. They all have their entire summer wardrobes complete and most of their fall/winter. And I never pay more than $5 for any piece I buy!
I only shop sales for myself, but I probably negate the benefit by buying a ton
keep the heater on 65 at night upstairs and 58 downstairs
I do my own mani/pedis unless I have a special occasion (which is maybe once a year)
I don't buy the expensive make-up in department stores
We bought memberships to the New England Aquarium and the Boston Children's museum so that we can go there frequently instead of shelling out $15-20 per person each time we go. It pays for itself after the second visit. Free entertainment!
Roll my own change rather than using coinstar. Mikacat, I do this too - we save change and I roll it as the jar gets full, then keep it until holiday season. Do you girls have Commerce Bank in your area? The coin machine in there doesn't charge you anything, even if you are not a member of the bank. Then, you can save time and money! Last time I went, I even got a free C-shaped piggy bank to save more change in.
I wish I were more frugal, but those are the things I do:
only buy clothes/shoes in second-hand stores, Ross or Loehmann's
buy unperishables at Costco, such as bottled water, trash cans, ziplocs, etc
no cable
no cell-phone
never eat takeout for dinner (though we do buy lunches - one day that will change!)
take most books and DVDs out of the library (this is much needed, since each of us has more than a thousand books and there's no place for them anymore)
save all change
reuse things that can be reused, such as bags, storage containers, etc.
