Ok ladies, I need your help. I want to make some changes to my hair, but nothing major or shocking. Let me explain what it currently looks like. First of all I am very fair skinned, blue eyes and have very light brown hair w/blonde highlights. My hair hits at about my collarbone and is naturally wavy - I wear it wavy everyday and just scrunch it and throw some mousse in it. I also have long layers. I'm looking to make some slight changes, just to make it look fresh. I'd like to change up the color a bit, but stay in the same color range. Maybe dye my whole head a light brown and do more drastic blonde highlights? I'd also like to change the cut a bit, but nothing drastic - maybe more layers??
Help girls! What do you think? Any opinions, advice, pictures?
I know this isn't what you're looking for, but i love your hair now!!
Thanks Hermione!! That's why I was only looking to make slight adjustments to make it look fresher. I've had this style a while. Maybe I should leave it?!
If I were you I'd look around for people who have great cuts - not just eye catching styles but you like the way the ends of their hair look ... the way it falls ... maybe you just need a trim but from someone who really knows what they're donig - long layers may sound easy but you know when you've got them from a great person!
your color is great too - i personally wouldn't go any blonder but that's up to you - i also don't know if i'd go any darker, the level looks perfect on you - i think it just sounds like you need a new stylist (a great one!) - subtle differences in your color weave and levels on highlights/ lowlights can make a difference - i've been a blonde my whole life - with help after highschool, always around the same level, and i have definitely liked some stylists WAY better than others!
you can get recommendations but i've found that the best ones come from people where i just stop them and say "omg i love your hair who does it!"
there are some chicago girls around here, they may have recs, but if you can wait a few weeks, just start keeping your eyes peeled - friends, coworkers, strangers on the street - no one safe from your search for perfect hair!
hey girl! i love love your hair cut... when i am struggling with what to do with my hair, i color it! it always makes me feel like everything is "fresh" again.
how about some low-lights? that way you can have some of the dark you were talking about and it will give you some contrast and maybe that will give you what you're looking for?
you have the skin coloring that you could definitely pull off darker hair. i would even almost suggest auburn lowlights, because i think the red would definitely set off your eyecolor.
just a suggestion, but something else that would make a big impact that's minor and definitely not permanent: have you ever thought about having your eyebrows tinted slightly darker? i think defined eyebrows (not of the groucho, nature, however) really make a face "pop."
bex - you don't think I should change the cut of my hair then at all? Also, I do currently ask my hair stylist for both highlights and lowlights, but I think maybe she doesn't do the low lights dark enough - I think she's doing a pretty light brown. So there's not much of a contrast. Maybe I should keep getting blonde highlights and ask for darker low lights?
A friend of mine suggested having her dye my whole head brown and then adding blonde highlights back in. What do you girls think?
erin - you think dark hair would look good on me considering my very pale complexion? I tried dying it a darker brown w/no blonde highlights once and I looked really washed out and even more pale...
Maybe try something like on the RIGHT, a base color plus highlights. -- Edited by zeitgeist4 at 11:35, 2006-01-06
Hey zeitgiest - where did you find that picture at? I'd like to look at that website!
My one girl friend suggested doing something like that - having my whole head dyed one color and then adding the highlights. I've been highlighting and lowlighting my hair for years and it starts to blend...maybe this would fix that issue?
The picture is actually from the L'oreal website, for one of their highlighting systems. There were only two other pics there. I would love to find a site that has tons of pics though.
shopchicago: i don't mean "dark" hair, but like bex suggested, in a lowlight format. you could do that color zeitgeist posted but instead of going allover darker, then highlighting, just doing a heavy lowlight with a few highlights thrown in. (cheaper and less processing on your hair) you have a very nice complexion and could probably get away with a lot of different colors..but even though it's winter, spring feels so close and i always like lighter hair in spring.

Thanks Erin! That's what I was thinking, just asking for more and darker lowlights and then highlights. I think I'll do that.
Now..does anyone have any advice on the cut? Keep the same or add some more layers?
