I am sad to read this but completely understand. D, thank you so much for all the time, effort and money ($100+ is way more than I would have expected anyone to contribute!) you have put into this community. I don't have as much time to post as often as I once did, and feel bad about that, but know this forum has made a huge difference to me in the last so many years & I truly value all the wonderful people I have met here. I hope we can all not use the FB group not just to keep in touch, but also to continue to relate our knowledge, questions & news (good & bad).
Again, D, thank you so much for everything you have done. I will definitely miss this place, but look forward to seeing you all on the page.
PS - I'd love to be able to add some content on the occasion I find something interesting.

Upon glancing at the subject of this thread, I knew what was up. It seems like the readership has declined over the years and agree with others that it only makes sense to shut it down. This forum has served as a huge safehaven for me as well, and still the ONLY place I go to when I need real advice. The Facebook private group sounds ideal; I look forward to keeping ST alive. Onwards and upwards, ladies!
I saw the Facebook post today. I joined this forum when I was in college and now I'm in 29 and getting married and can't believe how all these years have passed by. What an amazing group of women and what an amazing place we've had to share everything, not just fashion. I would love to stay involved with whatever group is formed next...
Big thank you to D for all that you have done and for pouring your heart (and pocketbook) into this very special place!!!!
I haven't been a regular poster in some time, but I still stop by, and love seeing what everyone is up to. I'll be sad to see this community go, but I do hope to see it resurrected at some point! Please do keep us in the loop via FB.
My stomach dropped when I read the post title because I knew it was coming, but like everyone else I totally understand. While I love ST because I know everyone in it is thoughtful, smart, funny, stylish, and helpful, I've also only been stopping by every week or two because things have been slowing down, so I definitely understand not keeping it up with the time and costs involved.
I had no idea the private group on FB existed, but I just requested to join - I think that's a perfectly fine solution if the proboards service doesn't pan out.
No matter what, I've had a great time here. I joined about 7 years ago I believe, and I still think of myself as a "newbie" sometimes! I've grown so much with all of you and I get warm fuzzies every time I think of ST.

D - was just thinking for the new forum, it may be a good idea to have members pay a minimal fee ($2?) via Paypal, to help cover your costs and to give some accountability. You have been more than generous all these years & I for one had no idea! Just a thought.

It's been awhile since I've posted and I hate that it's been so long and I haven't kept up on ST as much as I've wanted. Just wanted to drop by though and say a few things:
1) MAJOR props to D for keeping up ST all these years. I know there was probably more work on the back end than any of us could have imagined, but you have alway done an incredible job. I think it's a major credit to you that ST became such a safe, welcoming place for so many of us. I know internet forums can attract the crazies, the trolls, and the drama queens and you've done a wonderful job at keeping the riff-raff out, which allowed us all to connect in a really great way. :)
2) This community is amazing. I didn't come over with the Fashion Hag crowd (I found ST via the Lucky forums about a year or so after ST started, I think), but I found you all at a time when life was just kind of kicking my butt: those early 20's years when you're just out of college, in a crappy job, and trying to make friends in a new place. I feel like for a few years I had DH and I had you all. So thanks for being supportive and fabulous.
3) Finally, thanks for all the fashion and style advice! I'm a better-dressed person because of you all. :)
I'm sad to see the end of this era, but I completely understand the reasons and don't disagree with the decision at all. I guess I'm saying goodbye to ST in its current form, but not to any of you, because you'll see me wherever we end up. :)
I'm in the new field now, psychology, confidentiality is of utter importance, and the less there is info about me online is better, also, just to eliminate akward requests from the clients....Although there is always a choice of altering the name a bit...
