Hubby and I just made plans to go see a friend in NYC for New Year's. He's having a party at his apt and he reserved a room at a bar/club for afterwards. There's also the possibility of continuing on to other bars or clubs later in the night. However, I don't have time to go shopping and I don't go out to bars/clubs very often, so I'm trying to decide what to wear from previous going-out outfits. Do you guys think any of these outfits are appropriate for a night out in NYC?
#1: The skirt is corduroy so I don't know if it's dressy enough:
Here's a close up of the sweater, but in blue
#2: This outfit, but w/ a green tank under the shirt instead of the blue one and black boots instead of the wedges.
#3: I don't know if it looks like it's for daytime:
with a chocolate brown belted sweater (or brown velvet blazer?) and either brown suede wedge boots or these:
#4 My last option is a black maxstudio dress I got 2 years ago. It's about knee length with long sleeves and a gold-ish pattern on it. I don't have a pic.
Or of course, option #5: Skip work and go shopping.
I am doing the same thing, but I am taking the opportunity to go dressy. Especially on new years eve. Cordorouy may be too daytime. The dress sounds cute!
i think for a NY night out, you may need something dressier. i have never been to NY but i wach a hell of a lot of sex and the city, like that makes me an expert right?, and i know that not every place in NY is like that, but if they are half that fashion centered and dressed up, i would go with something dressy.
i would skip work and go get something fabulous to wear. it's new years eve in NY. but that is probably just because i have never been there so i get all excited just thinking about it.
I think the dress sounds like the best idea. The house party could wind up being casual but I feel like on NYE anything goes since people often have multiple events to attend.
I'm going to run to the mall today and see if I can get a new dress for New Year's, since I have't gotten one in a long time. Apparently the Send Hubby Into Cardiac Arrest limit is $200. I have no idea what's appropriate for New Year's in NYC, as my NYC experience is limited to a few nights of clubbing a few years ago, and driving through the Bronx on my way to visit relatives in RI.
Here are a few I came up with, but I'd love some suggestions, I'm worried about being overdressed.

And I absolutely adore these two, but they're too pricey at $248 and $380. Can anyone find something similar for less?
