i've decided to dress like this. jeans, basic high quality tee/sweater, and great accessories. so i think i will invest of my money into bags, belts, JEWELRY (i really want to make this the year of great key jewelry pieces). maybe it's boring to some, but i think she always looks classic.
i don't need anymore cute going out tops. i mean quite honestly, i wear scrubs half of the week, and the rest of the week i will wear jeans with a basic top, and killer shoes. when i do go out, i have enough going out clothes.
so yeah, jewelry (fine, and SOME fashion), high quality leather belts, and great bags! oh, and perfect my make-up/skin this year!

I don't need more clothes...I only intend on buying them if something needs to be replaced.
Since I'm going on a plan to aggresively cut out my student loan and credit card debt, I won't be able to buy any super-investment pieces this year. No black Chanel quilted bag like I had originally planed for my big 2-1. *sigh*
I will figure out the rest after I know what my new job will be....my wardrobe could be anything from business casual to jeans and sneakers every day.
- Invest in classic pieces in my wardrobe..like black pants, nice jeans, white button downs, classic handbags, etc. And stop buying so-so pieces that are poor quality and I only wear a few times before I hate them. - More jewelry as well...and actually wear them! - More fun shoes. I always stick to more basic shapes and colors and go with 'safe' shoes. Time to start having more variety.
Much cooler hair style. I'm tired of my past shoulder hair and want a drastic change. Hair cut first then a cool highlights a little later. I would like to get it done at the same time, but last year I went in to get a cut and highlights, she put the color on my hair first before cutting. So it took much longer and I'm sure I was charged more since she was processing longer hair.
I MUST get some more going-out clothes...I always gravitate towards super casual stuff, since that's my daily, natural style, but I want to be more pulled together (still funky though) and slightly sexy when I go out...
I want to focus more on jewelry purchases instead of clothes (I have too many). I make a lot of beaded jewelry but I want to do more w/ gold fill and sterling silver.
I only have one dress and I'm always on the lookout, I hope this will be my year
Be better about putting my heels into rotation
Add to my scarf and belt collection
The style resolutions I made last year have really helped my wardrobe a lot.
I want to spend my money more carefully. Not that I plan to spend less, but I want to invest in more classic pieces instead of buying stuff that will only last a season or two. Also, similar to shopgirl82- more accessories that will make a "boring" combinations look like a fab, put together outfit.
2006 will be the year of the accessory. Mainly shoes, scarves, belts, and jewelry. The only bag I'm currently lacking is a clutch, so I might buy one and then that is it for bags this year. No more.
My wardrobe is pretty classic and easy to work with as it is already, so right now I don't need a ton of clothes, so now is a good time for me to fill in my wardrobe gaps with accessories. I'm going to be pretty selective though because I don't want to waste my money buying things that I won't incorporate into my wardrobe.
I also want some more daytime dresses. I love dresses because they're so easy, but I only have a small handful of them.
I'm kind of like you, Carrie - I don't have NEARLY enough going out clothes, for when I do go out w/Joe or my girlfriends, so that's a MUST for 2006. I also want to buy 'better quality' clothes, even tho' I can make my cheapie clothes last a LIFETIME! LOL Also, I want some REALLY NICE pants. I don't NEED any more jewelry, but hey - yall know me! LOL I want to get into more belts/scarves, b/c they really DO make a difference to any outfit. And to DRESS BETTER, some days I just throw on whatever, like NOT put any effort into it, so....That too will change for 2006!

Yes, that's exactly what I plan to do too. Stop buying cheap trendy peices or something just because its on sale.

i don't know about the charging, but this is pretty standard to color first, then cut. it takes a LOT less time. if i know a client is doing a huge crop, i will just do a quick loppping of the length then color and cut, though. if you cut then color, you have to shampoo, cut, then put the person under the dryer then color...shampoo *again* and re-blowdry. it just doesn't make sense to do it that way.

I agree with erin. and depending on how much (color-wise) you were getting done to your hair (right, erin?) the color/highlights can take a loooooooooooong time. i have been in the salon up to 3 hours before for a cut and color job.
I want to make better use of what I have, which will hopefully lead to buying less. I'm especially guilty of not taking the time to use my assessories. For example, I have tons of vintage scarves and cute hats, but I rarely wear them.
Dress more conservatively at work. I hate to admit it, but I know that my "creative" outfits are sometimes too much for my coworkers to handle. I am really concerned that sometimes they don't take me seriously because of it. I hate it, but it is a reality I need to face.
Make up for #2 by being even more creative when I'm away from work. Using my assessories well, take risks with color pairings, etc. I try to do this now, but sometimes I get lazy.
- buy less, buy better. I've been working toward this for some time now, but 2006 is the year I really take the plunge. In order to do so I plan to shop less (and therefore not be tempted to impulse buy), and remember to ask myself, "Do I *really* love it, or do I love the price?". If I only love the price, I usually regret the purchase later.
- buy better quality bags. I tend to carry very inexpensive bags - and I realize that "inexpensive" is relative - but most of mine run $65 -$80. I am not satisfied with most of them lately though - I think because I am needing larger handbags, for one thing - and so plan to spend $100 or more on any bags I buy next year. Which will invariably lead me back to "buy less, buy better".
- continue to weed out things that just don't work in my closet, or just don't go with anything. I have worked, over the last three years, to develop a closet of items that actually coordinate (instead of just wearing everything with black), and plan to continue to do so. I recently finished reading "Entre Nous: A Woman's Guide to Finding Her Inner French Girl" by Debra Ollivier and it reinforced for me the idea of quality over quantity, as well as touching on how French girls mix up their clothing items to make different outfits. I wholeheartedly agree with that philosophy. *s*
