I just bought these tuxedo ankle pants. They fit me better than any pair of pants I have ever bought and I was so excited when I walked out of the store with them. I don't know why I never think of JCPenney. However, I am second-guessing myself. When I showed them to my sister she said they reminded her of marching band pants or referee pants. I love her but she whatever is in her head tends to come out her mouth. Everytime I look at them I think about that now. Anyway, maybe if I could figure out how to style them I would be more confident. Can someone make some suggestions on how to style them? Thanks.
I am considering swapping them for these which are the reverse color. Do any of you like these better?

I like the first pair more. I don't get marching band from the at all. I do think you have to style them conscientiously. I'd wear them with a silk shirt tucked in with the sleeves rolled up and an interesting sculptural cuff on my arm. I'd also wear a simple but sexy shoe with them. A black pump like in the photo or a sleek black bootie.
I have a military/marching band-style jacket and I am very conscientious about not wearing it with flat boots or anything else that might make me look like a civil war reenactor. So I know what you mean. (I got it at Goodwill and I believe it was in fact part of a band uniform.)
How are you hoping to wear them? To the office, to holiday parties, or what?
