Fall Trend # 2- Oxblood, Burgundy, Wine
Permalink Closed

Oxblood.  Burgundy.  Wine.  Whatever you call it, it seems to be the color of the moment, doesn't it?  Personally I love it for Fall.  It seems that I rediscover every few years that this color looks great on me.  It goes with so many items that most of us already own (grey, black, brown, etc.)  I bought a sweater dress in this color last year and am so happy that when I wear it this season I not only look "of the moment" but can also secretly feel pleased that I was ahead of the trend wink.  I already have the dress, a pair of skinnies, a grandpa cashmere sweater (from my last "discovery" of this color) and a silk shirt.  I'm hoping to pick up a few pieces this year (like a pair of vintage boots and a skirt.)  What do you guys think of this color?

Red is my favorite color, so a darker fall version I love! It's a bit dark for my complection, so I have to do it in small doses. I love that jacket and the boots you posted!

I'm loving this color too. I like how it's super dark oxblood this year and not the 90s burgundy shade.

Love it although I've kind of weeded it out of my wardrobe over the last few years. Since I made the conscious decision to only buy a very small color palette, I've also continually cycled out unwanted colors. I'm on black/gray/white and red only. (At one point I decided I still needed red in my life.)

Oh I have boots that color. But I'm not in love with them. They're very pointy.

Suasoria, Don't you love having a reduced color palette? I completely rid mine of chocolate brown and most navy essentials (shoes, pants) a while back. It has been great. I stick with colors that look best with black, gray, and denim blues. I got sick of having to obtain and manage so many different style shoes and bags in so many different colors to make all my outfits work. I like the oxblood because it acts  almost as a neutral.

I love it so hard. It makes it so easy to be me or dress like me.

One of The Clash's greatest songs, "Clampdown," has a line about growing up and conforming: "you grow up and you calm down...you start wearing blue and brown." I am so happy to be rid of blue and brown! It never was me. How did I even let it happen in the first place? Why didn't I listen to Joe Strummer? Why?

Shades in this family have always been favorites of mine, so I was surprised to discover that after my last epic closet cleanout, there's not a stitch of it to be found. I'll be looking for pants and a sweater for sure.

I have always loved this color. I also think it is flattering on me, but for whatever reason I don't own a lot of it.
I had a store credit at the Limited and ended up picking up their version of burgundy skinnies. I would love a few more items this color, like a big sweater (where did you get your cashmere sweater Boots?), a skirt, and maybe some boots.

Unfortunately the sweater was bought at Martin+Osa years ago (I miss that store.  They had great, affordable cashmere.  I still have three of their sweaters that look as good as the day they were bought.)

I've ended up wearing my oxblood skinnies at least once a week since the weather has turned cooler.  They go with so many items in my closet.  I think their heavy rotation will continue through the winter too.

I love it! And I think it looks great on me but it hasn't been super easy to find for me. To be fair I haven't really been shopping a lot lately, but I've been out a few times and have yet to really find much that works for me in that color. Hmpf.
