The boards a little slow so I thought I'd try to start a few discussions of some Fall Trends. What does everyone think of statement collars. These are either blinged out collars on blouses or peeking out of crew neck sweaters.
I like them in concept, such as in a magazine or blog. They look fresh and ladylike to me. It's a nice change from seeing everyone and her sister's side boob hanging out all the time. I might even like them IRL on other people (I haven't actually seen anyone wearing his yet so who knows?) But since my bodyshape does not look good in button ups or crew necks, it's not a trend I'll be trying.
I like them on others, but not on me. Being full chested, I am rarely able to button something up that far. Plus, I have a thicker neck, which doesn't really need attention like that.
With my short hair, I look like a dude (or a very angry, prudish woman) when I have collars buttoned up that high. I can barely get away with crew neck t-shirts. I'm a v-neck and scoop neck kinda girl.
I actually like the idea quite a lot, but for one minor issue...I always leave my collars unbuttoned. I've actually been contemplating a diy version with some thrifted supplies.
I bought this top from nordstrom's new topshop collaboration bc it was a really good price (and two trends in one!):
However it's been in my closet for a month now & I haven't reached for it. I am contemplating returning it. Who knows, if the right occasion arises I may wear it. Maybe I should ask for styling ideas before I give up on it.

That's really pretty. I'd wear it out to a nice dinner with dark jeans and heels/booties. Maybe some bangles on the wrist since you are bare armed, but no other jewelry to compete with the look. As it gets cooler, I'd throw a navy sweater over it (I think the sparkly collar would look good peeking out from under a navy cardi.) It might also work with a red pencil skirt for an evening out.
I wonder how it would look with a layer under the top? Funk it up with a solid color tissue t-shirt (maybe gray?) under so that the sleeves show and keep the bottom easy with skinny jeans. That might make it a causal weekend look.
