What do you carry all your stuff in to the gym (or what would you carry to the gym if you went regularly)?

I currently use an old canvas beach bag that I bought in probably 2004, but the stripes on it look like it is straight out of 1993. I need a new bag for the gym! I'm looking for something that will function nicely too.

I'm a simple gal, so no crazy patterns, please. Thank you!

I just use a tote bag that I won from a blog contest,  but I only go to the YMCA where everybody is pretty bare bones apparel-wise (I mean, Tuesday I had a woman on the eliptical wearing flip flops!)  I think the bag would depend on what you actually carry with you to the gym?  I usually only bring a water bottle, my keys, my wallet, cell and IPod, so I don't need anything special.  If you have to carry clothes or shoes or equipment, you might need something larger.

I'd get one of these if I need a new bag:

I have one very similar to the Adidas Boots posted, only in violet/black. I found it at the Nigala Falls outlet mall, on sale, for 9.98$!

It's very big and it has straps for a yoga mat (my idea is to enroll in a yoga class starting in September)

Boots - I must go to a chichi YMCA! Lol! No, it's just my desire to not carry a 90s bag and to have better function for carrying stuff. I do shower there sometimes, so it needs to be on the bigger side. Thanks for recs so far!

I don't think gym bags need to be gymmy. I'd probably go for something more in the tote/carryon style in case I needed it to serve more than one purpose, and in case I needed to be seen carrying it. These are from ebags.
