Summer Reading - Delayed
Permalink Closed

Hello girlies,

We are going on vacation to the beach in September.  I need a few good books to read.  I'm look for light, mindless summer reads.  I loved the Shopoholic series, The Devil Wears Prada, and the like.  I've read everything by those authors, and the Something Borrowed author.  Their names escape me at the moment.

Anything new out there along those same lines?

I like the Stephanie Plum series (at least the first 10 or so. They've gotten real repetitive IMO lately.) The first one is called One for the Money and the author is Janet Evanovich. A very easy read. There's mystery, action and romance. Plus they're thin enough to stow in my bag easily.

I used to love Susan Isaac books. (in fact, she has a new one coming out this year apparently.  I may have to check it out.)  My favorite was Comprmising Posistions.  An ex journalist but now SAHM borded with her suburban existance gets involved with the mystery surrounding the murder of her dentist.  She also gets "involved" with the detective assigned to the case.  It's funny, exciting and a bit steamy.

I was trying to find out how to spell "Evanovich" and found this website for chick lit review. Maybe something there will strike your interest?

Don't know how to define summer reading, I just do it all year round:))) but the last 2 good ones:

1. Balzak and a Little Chineese Seamstress

2. 1Q84 by H. Murakami - it's heavy, 1000 pages, but great writing! on everyone's current bestseller's list.

I really like Mary Kay Andrews (she's southern fiction...they have a lot of her stuff at Sundog) and I just started reading Gillian Flynn, she has 3 books out that I know of..Gone Girl, Dark Places, and Sharp Objects...Gone Girl is creepy and disturbing, but good...I think you'd like it.
