Quiet romantic trips

Okay does anyone have a spot in this world that they think is wonderfully romantic, non-touristy, high class, gorgeous and warm, the ultimate pampering romantic getaway?! This is what I am dying for and it seems that every time we vacation we feel like it is crowded and full of tourists and all this touristy stuff. I just want to be somewhere beautiful and relaxing with my husband and feel like we are alone, and like we will not be bothered. Can anyone relate? Example, we just went to Puerto Vallarta thinking that this time of year would be totally uncrowded it wasw a quick flight ect ect but we got there and it was to say the least not fun crowded, full of pollution, american tourists and people trying to seel you anything they could. So I want the opposite of that/

it might be too far away, but you said anywhere in the world, so i guess it's fair game. :)

we went to bali and lombok for our honeymoon and i would recommend either place as exactly what you are describing. the majority of tourists who go to bali stay in jimbaran and kuta (which is where all of the bali bombings have taken place also) but we stayed in ubud, which is more centrally located. the resort we stayed at, the four seasons sayan, was a paradise and very quiet and romantic. it's literally built up in the trees over a huge river (the ayung). if this photo doesn't show you how relaxing and beautiful is, nothing will! :)

even less touristy than bali is lombok - the local people refer to it as "bali from 20 years ago" before the resorts started being built on bali and more tourists came regularly. we stayed at the oberoi lombok and honestly, if i could choose a place to spend the rest of my life if i could choose anywhere, i would probably choose that resort. it was amazing.

anyway, i think both of those islands are amazing places, full of culture and history, and are great for a quiet romantic getaway (perfect for our honeymoon!). if you want any more information about either resort, just PM me. :)

My BIL and his wife go to Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadines every year.  I am dying to go there.  It's a private island with only 22 cottages and total luxury.
