sister in law and fashion?sense...

I really dont mean to be vindictive, because honestly , I would just like to help a little...Anyways,  do you have a sister in law that you would love to sign up for " What not to wear" or some other makeover show? Well actually I have two- they are sisters, but one is definately worse than the other. The one in the most need of um... assistance she tends cattle, is always on a horse,  is outside all day- she works very hard. But, she never protects her skin, and because of this she is aging and loosing elastisity so quickly- sunspots all over her neck and arms from exposure.1st tip: Use sunscreen! She uses the clothes she works in for her every day attire- grocery shopping ,errands, and even holidays! At christmas I already know what she will be wearing: tight- did I mention tight- high rise western jeans that do not fatter her or anyone for that matter. Her big belt buckle, workn boots, and a holiday sweatshirt with santa, a snowman, or similar xmassy decor. Her hair is long- almost to her bottom. It will be dirty and in braids. Oh god, I feel so bad- but, I know that we could go shopping and find her items that would flatter- and I have suggested this , but she just laughs and says I hate shopping... Whats a sister in law to do???

im sure(?) you didn't mean to use the word fatter...but what a great slip of the tounge. what's that word for it? a sollipism?

anyway...i feel your pain. my darling younger sister is in desperate need of help. she is 24 but dresses like she is 64, mom jeans and old lady sweaters all over the place. she believes very firmly that her jeans (of which she owns 1! pair) should not cover or touch her shoes. she never ever ever buys herself anything ever but i have been slowly forcing her to go shopping with me. i even got her to buy a pair of jeans from bannana republic that were longer and lower waisted! she looked hot, imagine that! is there anyway you can drag your cowgirl relative shopping with you and then pick stuff out for her? i think that's the only way short of actually calling what not to wear. i force stuff on my sister.

Oh my god!  I just told my BF that I would love to nominate my SIL for What Not to Wear more than anything in the world, but she'd hate me for it and never go.  My SIL is 30 years old and she just couldn't care any less about her appearance.  She's as heavier set girl and she doesn't dress to flatter that.  She wears tighter fitting shirts or her belly hangs out and I'm sorry but that's just gross.  What really saddens me is that she knows it and she just keeps gaining weight.  She doesn't try to do anything about it.  She never, EVER wears any makeup, throws her hair in a bun on top of her head every day.  She wears tapered jeans and black, clunky shoes.  It's a disaster.  I would love to help her, but she wouldn't let me.  We have gone shopping together and she sticks her nose in the air when I go in stores like Anthro and Coach.

I'm sure alot of you have already heard about my brother's charming girlfriend. She doesn't believe in plucking her eyebrow (yes, only 1 -monobrow), thinks using hairproducts and body lotions is disgusting. And is horribly dressed (which makes no sense to me b/c my bro is super metrosexual and practically lives at FCUK and Ben Sherman). For example, for her office party this year, she wore a borrowed dress that was waaay to big for her so she took the excess fabric in the back and held it with a scrunchie on the outside to make it tighter. And also it gave her a little tail (which we all know is the hot new look). Then even though she is totally pale and her dress was a rose color with spaghetti straps, she wore black stockings and black clunky loafers. It was ....indescribable, really.

Off topic but another funny thing about my brothers gf is that she still (at 26) claims to be the big V. Even though she has been dating my brother almost 3 years. And he says she wasn't one before they met and she definitly isn't one now. But she still claims she is.

Y'all, I don't have a sister in law, but this post is hilarious - especially the scrunchie-tail. Ew. People like this don't want to be helped though. It's like they feel so awkward having people look at them they don't want to try to look good or something. Nothing you can do. But I hate when they criticize ME. The dork population is really high at my school, and almost every day someone says something about the way I wear my jeans "too long..."

These are funny!  Especially scrunchie tail.  There are plenty of girls at work that need total makeovers.  I want to help them, but don't want to offend!

WTF???????????  i told my BF that if we get married and she shows up in a freaking TRACK SUIT (and not a cute one like juicy either- i'm talking that windbreaker material in bright florescent colors) i will have a breakdown....

i think i am that sister in law.  i love fashion, and try hard, but i had triplets 2 1/2 years ago and they keep my very buisy.  my sister in law lives in no cali and i live in so cali we haven't seen each other in 1 1/2 and when she came down for my brother in laws wedding in october she was like what the hell happened to you.  i have to admit, i have not gotten back into the style loop completely and it shows.
