how about putting in a darker blonde highlight throughout your hair? That would change the color up and add some depth without putting in lowlights (which I hate). I wish I had a recent picture of my mom's hair. Our hair guy did a really good job with hers. Basically its about an inch or two past her shoulders and cut into a few layers for when she feels like putting in rollers/curling ironing it and she has a thin layer of bangs (a lil past eyebrow length) that she wears sorta across her forehead (not sure how to describe it really). Her face shape is similar to yours so it might work. Just sorry I don't have a picture. Maybe I can dig one up for you.
I think a pale reddish color would look nice with your skin tone. I was thinking old Scarlett Johansson. This is what I found:
I guess a strawberry blonde is what I am thinking.
As far as style, how about taking it to a more sholder length bob and giving yourself some depth around the face through bangs or framing the face. Like this:
Only, maybe not so many bangs

oh Mom please re- do your color, pleaseeeeeeeeee, I love what the ladies posted- and I really like the one that andrea posted- you would look great in this color, and even cutting it like this in long layers since you want to keep your length would total rock!!!
Since you are so blond right now, I would suggest that you use a light red or strawberry blond filler, then apply nothing darker than a semi permanent light brown..... Any pigment you apply will stick to processed hair like it would to a dry sponge right now, so since you don't want to go too dark, be careful and do a test strand, anything darker than light brown will look muddy. If you skip adding a pale red filler, it will look greenish (because all browns have blue elements), but if you go with only reds, it will look pink.
Basically, make sure you go to an experienced stylist who knows tons about color corrections and processing blond to darker shades.
As far as a cut, I think you would look great with some long bangs!

Don't be afraid ... you can do it! And I agree with all of the above suggestions. Go to an experienced stylist (since this is a big change for you, it will be worth it), and she will help you choose a color that really suits you. Plus, it's just hair... if you hate it, you can always change it, but I think you will be very plesantly suprised if you just take the plunge!
And the fact that you've had your hair this way for so long is the best reason in the world to try something different... you're going to look great!

I like HeatherLynn's suggestions. I think a reddish blonde would look really pretty and a cut similar to Nicole Ritchie's (maybe a little more grown-up) would look lovely on you.
I can just imagine what my mom would say if I told her to please change her hair color! I think "oh my" is probably only part of it!
