okay ladies i rent this house but i want to update my living room but of course i dont want to put alot of money in it, only get things i can take with me when i move, i need new curtains and i thought @ a red color like my throws on the couch- iam love with the color, also thought @ changing out my lamps to something different and maybe a table runner for the coffee table, the red cloth will be off after christmas. Here are some pics so you can have a idea of the color of my and all, please excuse the carpet I hate it. Oh and the little half way little storage area i thought @ putting some bamboo beads to close it off, will that look cheesy? (by the front door and the large couch)
thanks ladies for any ideas or tips
oh my big kitty rug- i think iam going to put the family pics in the hall way with other pics and add something else that goes with living room?? ideas still looking
Okay ladies I found these lamps- I love the color, but should I go with a taller base , wider base or leave like it is? thanks alot ladies
A room divider to hide things do not look cheesy. My BF wants to put this ugly organ he got for free from eeew a funeral home where he is working on a construction job. You can probably imagine how freaked out I am that this is going to make my family room look hideous. He gets all pissy that I don't like it, who likes the sounds of it anyway? He says he's going to learn to play it, yeah right. He scoffed at my idea to give him a learning to type cd, saying when the hell would he have the time to do that? Well, I tell him his chicken pecking takes much longer than it would take to actually learn to type. So I will get a room divider to hide it.
From Pier 1...
Maybe this curtain:
Here is a floor screen:
And you can get a large area rug to cover floors you do not like. From target...
This would look pretty with red curtains, IMO. Wal-mart has some cheap area rugs too. Or you could get a plain sisal rug and bind it (or even paint it) yourself.
thanks ladies yes i was thinking red curtains- in fact i have some posted in this section do you think they would look good? or should i go with a solid red curtain? I have some area rugs but they have palm trees- want something different with a little more color to it- I really like the rugs cortney1982- thanks,
It's so hard when you are renting - i know just how you feel. I want to make my place fabulous, but i don't want to spend a fortune, or really even $200 to do it!
I love those rugs - home depot has some great rugs too.
I think that lamp is pretty, but maybe it should be bigger? What else usually goes on that table - it's hard to tell with your cute christmas stuff out.

laken 1, it usually has a another cream catch it all bin lol- like the one on it but a little shorter and a candle i think, that table is mostly for the outgoing mail and junk we need to take with us going out the door - humm?? i may exchange them
Love all the ideas Cortney1982. Kaykay, I noticed there are a lot of brown earthy tones & reds, maybe an olive/sage green silk or velvet curtains to pull all the colors together with the olive/sage couch?
yes bq i thought of that too- i was wanting to go with the red to give it more color- i cant make up my mind- and iam undecided @ my lamp bases- i am thinking @ a taller one shall we vote that might help , red or a green mossy color? and taller bases for lamp?
I think the curtains you posted in another thread are really pretty, BUT I think they will be too busy w/ the wall paneling and your jungle theme you have going. Solid would be much better, and I think the sage color bq posted would be perfect! I think red curtains would be too overpowering in there. Your couch seems to have that similar sage color, so you could get some that are around the same shade or slightly lighter. You should use the red as an accent, just for punches of color - like your red throw and the red lampshades. I think the scale of the lamp you bought is nice, but you need to raise them up on books or something if you're going to keep it on the side table.
Love the rug Cortney posted, and there are so many inexpensive rug options available out there. But that rug is kind of jungle-y and has the hints of red that you love.
Thanks MissMee i agree with you on the curtains, i need a solid color and i do like the sage color ones too, iam going to go look for so taller lamp bases and if i cant find the ones i like i will do what you suggest with the books- thank you so ladies you helped me decide.
