Ummm...I never received it!  In fact, I haven't gotten November, December or the January ones...I ordered it from Mags 4 Less back in August...but haven't gotten any.  Anyone want to sell me their copies?

I've had the same problem leah_leanna!  I am so pissed off at MagsforLess -their service and their customer service suck.  I keep telling them to cancel my order, and they keep giving me the run around. I thought maybe Lucky was the issue, but Lucky doesn't even have my order

IAnd seriously, Andrea Linette and her skulls are starting to drive me nuts. Does she have to feature them in every issue???  When I was flipping through the gift guide, I knew instantly which pages were hers from all the black and skulls.  Not that there is anything wrong with that, but after 5 years of it, enough already! Find a new schtick!

AMEN! This has been driving me bonkers too! Always with the skulls, and the spiders, and the bugs... enough already is right.

Yeah, I wasn't very into this issue, either. Definitely have been finding less great stuff the past year or so than I used to. And there are no other reliably good ones, you are right--shop etc. is hit-or-miss, and instyle generally features only very expensive, very conservative stuff. and I LOATHE vogue, I can't stand all the society garbage.

And I totally agree with you guys about the spa sections. I always roll my eyes when I see those in magazines. I don't really like the beauty sections in general, but I can see the point of listing good places to go for facials, etc... but not full-on spa retreats. Lame. Waste of space.

Hm, maybe once finals are over I will start a thread with some scans of recent horrific lucky outfits...

I haven't been thrilled with Lucky lately either and Shop seems like the same thing.  I still love Vogue for inspiration.  Lately I've been getting into Budget Living which sounds cheesier than it is.  It actually has some great fashion spreads and neat home stuff it has an Urban Outfitters feel to it I think.

I was in Borders bookstore the other day and a magazine caught my eye. It was called "Happy" and it said, "the magazine for shopping." I was interested but noticed it was from the UK and wasn't sure if it would display a ton of cute stuff that would be difficult, time-consuming, or expensive to obtain.

Has anyone else seen this mag? It it Lucky's sister mag or something? I hope not....

I hated the Dec. Issue. The last decent-ish one was around October, I think, or September - I remember being pleasantly surprised at how many things I dog-eared. It's been a while since I've dog-eared much.

I thought the "build your own outfit" section was hideous; I only liked one outfit in that, and I have to agree with the others who said the beauty section is out of control! Allure covers beauty *every* month; why does Lucky think it has to have such a huge section for beauty? I'm not a girl who is crazy for beauty / makeup products, and I want my CLOTHING spreads, my inspirations, my "ooh, that's cool" pages...and they have been rare lately.

I like Elle overall for articles as well as the fashion - it's not as uppity as Vogue, IMO. And I love InStyle, but in a different way. InStyle is a little too celeb-heavy for me, and Lucky *used* to be much more down to earth. Now each issue is either too blah or too "out there" for my taste, and instead of anticipating it every month, I find I'm disappointed after each issue arrives. ~sigh~

Just wanted to add something else...

Has anyone else noticed the obscene amount of skinny jeans? Or the obscene amount of long sleeve tees and such under camis/ANYTHING? No more! NO MORE!!!

Haha, please do.

Lucky used to be my favorite magazine.  I liked it because it wasn't about trends but about cool new ways to wear clothes.  Now it seems like they are purposely creating sh*tty outfits because they know people will buy the mag anyways.  I bet they get a kick out it.

The Dec. issue was less than great.  I like some aspects of the 80s thing that is coming back but they kept pushing it the whole issue.  NEON!  TAPERED JEANS!  GOLD BLING MEDALLIONS!  The funny thing is that they are suggesting things that they specifically advised against in their manual.

Bwahaha! So true.  And they tout that damn manual as 'timeless' and not trendy.  And then they go and contradict themselves on every page of the magazine.  Lucky and 'timeless' or 'classic' are not compatible terms.

well, i am not as much of a hater as a lot of other people seem to be.  i definitely think that lucky is still kind of fashion-forward and accessible (at least way more than anything else out there).  and i don't hate andrea linnett's taste--she styles so many of their editorial shoots and a lot of them are great.  that last page with her personal picks does tend to get a bit repetitive, but i guess that's the nature of it--it's her own personal style, which isn't going to change that drastically from month to month.  i happened to really like the december issue (more than a lot of their recent ones, which i thought were fine but not great), especially the two layouts with layered evening separates--i got some good ideas from it.

my main complaint is just the beauty section--i think now that they don't have any home or lifestyle pages (because domino handles that), they have expanded the beauty section, and for me it's just too much.  i'm just not that big of a hair and makeup person.  i want fashion and outfits and shoes!

on another note, has anyone gotten their january one yet?

They suck.  Don't even bother subscribing.  I never got a single issue, so I cancelled, got a refund and now I'll just pay more to buy it off the newsstand.  It's not worth subscribing too.  Oh and I bought the January issue today and it's paper thin.

Well, I'm not going to buy their Domino magazine since they slimmed down the home section in Lucky.  They are getting greedy and wan't more money obviously by having people purchase both mags at the same time.  I have bought two issues of Domino and I am not impressed.

I really like Domino, actually.  I got a subscription to it and I like it.  It's very much my style and although the stuff they feature is ridiculously expensive, it offers great ideas.  I like it more than I like Lucky right now.  That may change, but for now, I like it.

I keep hoping Lucky will swing back around.  The things I like about it are the absence of most celebrity (excluding the cover actress and her two page spread, of course), the focus on fashion and absence of articles, the variety of styles and the unique eclectic looking stuff...but I almost always flip right over the beauty stuff.  If I wanted beauty, I would subscribe to Allure again (I couldn't stand that mag).

Long ago I cancelled InStyle, I have never liked Vogue, I don't want something typical, no look-alike women's mags like Glamour, Marie Claire or Bazarre....so for now, I will stick with Lucky and hope for the best. Thank goodness we have the web and this forum for other resources!
