Ugh, I feel like I have NOTHING to wear lately. I was stupid and I gained 50 pounds while pregnant and I'm still working on the last 15 or so. Here I am almost 6 months postpartum and hardly any of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit and I doubt they're going to any time soon, since my hips definitely got wider and my boobs are bigger (and saggier--fun!). I don't want to be this size forever, so I don't want to spend a lot right now, but I need some clothes to get me through the summer at a larger size than usual. I'm still nursing and pumping 3x a day at work, so I need tops/dresses with easy access to the boobs. :)
How do you feel about dresses? ON has a bunch of jersey dresses on their site - with a cardigan or jacket and a belt, I could see some of them being acceptable at work.
Not that exciting but there you go. If it were me I'd be wearing yoga pants and telling people I've got an infant, and if you've got a problem with that, you can suck it.
Comfortable but polished - could you get away with linen pants at work? You could get a sleeveless shell (that has a few buttons at the top) and wear a cardigan or a summer blazer on top.
First off, congrats on only having 15 more pounds to go! That means you lost 35 and that's quite an accomplishment in 6 months! I have friends will 8 year olds who still complain about their "pregnancy" weight.
Honestly, what I would do is invest in a few pieces that can be worn a bunch of ways and then in a couple of great accessories that I can wear regardless of what changes my body goes through.
a chambray shirt. You can dress it up, down, tuck it in or leave it out, roll the sleeves or wear it under a blazer for work. It's very on trend right now also. This one is from Nordstrom Rack on line (on sale for $29.99) , but you can find a version anywhere from Target to J Crew. Plus it has buttons for easy access.
A sleeveless top (because summer is hot!) but one with enough coverage so you can wear your nursing bra under it comfortably. This is also from Nordstrom Rack (Vince Camuto) on sale for $24.97. I like that it has a gathered waist. It'll give you a shape and should shrink a bit as you shrink. You could wear this under a cardi or blazer for work as well as causal with jeans or shorts.
a colorful a-line skirt. A-line skirts look good on just about everyone, but are really great if you don't love your hips. They have enough structure to still look polished but are forgiving as well. I think getting one in a bright fun color would be great for summer. You can pair it with a t-shirt (white would be a no-brainer, but think about things like color blocking and complimentary colors as well) , the chambray shirt or an easy tank top. This is from Nordstrom Rack on sale for $14.97 (they have a few colors) but you can also find it pretty much everywhere right now.
an easy dress with a defined waist. The 1st one is BCBG and the 2nd is Presely Skye from (you guessed it) Nordstrom Rack for $44.97 & $59.97. The top is loose enough that you won't feel constrained or that too much attention is being called to your new "assets" and the bottom is flowy without being out of control. Again, a defined waist will give you some shape
A lot of my friends' feet spread during their pregnancy. I already have wide feet . My favorite go-to summer shoes for 2 years in a row are TOM's canvas wedges. They come in a lot of different colors and are really the most comfortable shoes I own.
I have them in red and in aqua.
As for accessories, have fun with them. Go to a place that has a lot, like FF21, Charming Charlie or Target and just get something that speaks to you. Most likely you'll spend less than $10, but feel like you got something that makes you feel pretty and chic.
