What do we think of the fact that a natural brunette (myself) wants to go back to brown (I highlight it blonde, and everyone thinks I'm really blonde), but my fiance hates brown hair? I told him, well that is my natural color, and he had no idea
I say, go slow. Just like you do when you get highlights, getting more and therefore progressively lighter each time you have them done. Reverse it, and start getting more lowlights put in and you'll gradually get darker until your (mostly) back to your original brown. Then it won't be such a shocking change - I'm sure the boy would come around .

"hates brown hair"?--jeez! lighten up, fiance! he hates like 50% of the population of the world.
haha, actually though, my bf really isn't attracted to blondes at all. he just doesn't like it, weird. while i don't know if your bf is THAT extreme Tina..maybe do it gradually or show him pics of you with your natural color? not that i'm saying you need his permission at all, but i would prefer if my bf let me know before bleaching his hair blonde, for example. i think you'll be able to warm him to the idea. So he doesn't like Penelope Cruz? Salma Hayek?
Am I the only one who thinks a tongue-in-cheek response along the lines of "I don't like anything less than 9 inches but I put up with you..." would be funny?
OK then.

Oooh that's a good one. I might have to use that.
Yeah the blonde kind of washes me out, esp. in the winter b/c I am pale. But I'm getting married in May, so I'm not sure when to start making the gradual change back to my awful hideous brown hair .

third!
My husband (who likes blondes too) goes through a phase every year where he suggests to me that I should go tanning. I tell him that, first, he didn't marry Paris Hilton, and second, he can make changes in my appearance if I can make changes in his (which would mean the loss of most of his favorite clothing, and the addition of moisturizer and eyebrow-plucking to his routine). That tends to stop it pretty quickly. LOL
