I'm thinking of getting a part time job at Banana Republic but I have a several questions. Has any one worked there? How many hours did you work? What was it like? Do you think they'll hire me since I don't have any work experience? I'm also attending UHD so do you think I'll have enough time to dedicate to my education?
I haven't worked there, but almost did, and my best friend works there.. I know that they pay well for retail and that it is a definitely a good place to work. however, that is entirely dependent on the management of that particular store, i guess.
I work at anthropologie in columbus and i love it simply because I love retail so it is a fun way for me to make some extra money. I'm also in college and also had an internship and full time job interviews this quarter and survived, so i'm sure you can too- it is just a matter of time management, and realizing that you don't get weekends off anymore.. retail hours are typically at night and on weekends though so make sure you have other time to get your work done.
HOWEVER, do not work retail if you really need the money. if that is the case, i would suggest working at a restaurant or in some sort of office or anything, b/c unfortunately when you work in retail, the majority of your paycheck goes to buying clothes from that store. it's easy to say you won't spend a lot of money, but something about the environment and everyone wearing the newest clothes just seems to make it happen...
I never worked there, but one of my best friends from college worked there as a sale associate while she was in school and loved it. She said it was a great place to work for a part-time job.
ok, I have another question. How many days out of the week do you work if you have part time?
I think it varies by the store based on the volume and the need. When I was working part time at Rampage, they were fine with me working 2 nights a week and gave me a set schedule. Some places won't do that. It just depends on the store (even within a chain, individual stores have different staffing needs).
