I never knew any store had a policy against this. I have checked mannequin tags and taken items off mannequins all by myself before, (without help from a sales associate, because I usually say I don't need help the minute I walk in) and it was always because the mannequin was wearing the last size small available. I didn't even think to ask if this was ok, I just assumed it was and marched straight up to the counter. I will have to remember that....and keep up what I had been doing in the meantime. ETA: I have never shopped at F21, but I have been allowed to try and or buy clothing taken off mannequins at Gap, J Crew and QuikSilver that I can remember off the top of my head.-- Edited by lorelei at 18:32, 2005-12-30
not sure if they do this at forever21, but abercrombie and stuff put something on the tag that says property of abercrombie and fitch or something. so even if they didn't know you got it from a manequin, they still wouldn't sell it to you. i've seen shirts mixed in their with their reg. shirts that have this on the tag- they won't sell it to you.
At Forever 21, I have actually had them call me back several times once they take the item off the mannequinn. The girls at the one I usually go to a pretty nice and helpful. Way back when, they used to take the clothes off for you to try too, but I think since then F21 has added a Merchandising team to each region and they have to look as uniform as possible with each store (i.e. A&F and Hollister). It really is a b*tch from both the Merch/Retail team/AND customer point of views. I can relate to all 3. But really, I think if you leave your name and number, I have had great success with F21 calling me back.
