Shoes for dress
Permalink Closed

I just bought this dress today. I love it! I have two weddings this year. One is in mid-May in central Ohio. One is in early September in Pittsburgh. I am planning on wearing it to both. I need help with shoes please. The colors in the print are:

True blue (almost royal blue)

Aqua

Mustard

Black

Ivory background

70/30 Cotton/Silk

Errr... Here's the pic (might help)

Here's a link to the dress. You can zoom in a little to see the print better.

I think I'd stay in the blue family, like a royal blue patent slingback.

If you find a nude patent heel, I think that could work as well. Perhaps a nude with a yellow undertone rather than a pink? Otherwise, I agree with Su, a blue would work well.

So pretty! I love the pattern and the colors.

Since there is a lot going on with the dress, I'd probably keep my shoes as simple as possible. I'm a big metallic goes with almost everything person, so I'd do something like these:

shoes_isec1321680.jpgVia Spiga  (they're really expensive at $225, but just to give you an idea of a style.)

shoes_isec1283138.jpgLauren $89

shoes_isec1317035.jpgNina $79

cn4703991.jpgIvanka Trump $140

cn4341784.jpgLauren $69.99 (on sale at Piperlime)

I think these are perfect - they're almost that denim/chambray color as the jacket in the picture.

I would do nude patent or a pale gold.

I asked my sister for her opinion, and she suggested:

Smart-assiness runs in the family...

Thank you, ladies, for all the suggs so far. I'm leaning toward nude.

Some possibilities:

Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump Bulbi - Not sure about the toe box/peep shape tho.

Enzo

Enzo Angiolini Dixy

I've had luck with EA in the past. These are a little boring, but poss.

Still looking...

LOVE these! Peep toe shapes are definitely an individual thing. But I for one think they are perfect here.

Ok. Ended up going with these. They're the practical and well-priced choice. The display was my size and they ended up costing about $55. Can't beat that, and I can wear them again.

One additional thing is I am going to do my makeup according to this instructional video produced by Refinery 29. I've tried it a few times, and it looks very nice on me. I think it would be a perfect complement to the dress. I also got a fresh hair cut (super short pixie), and colored my hair very dark brown so my look has much more impact. My hair is getting so light these days, and it's washing me out. Thank you for all your help StyleThreadians!

I like the shoes! I like that you can wear with so many other outfits even more. That Mad Men makeup look is so pretty. And you're right, it will look amazing with your dress.
