So I got the new video iPod (5th Gen) 30MB for my birthday a couple of weeks ago from my BF! I've just started learning how to put all my music in and where to get more music.
Don't have any accessories yet and the Mac stuff is pricey. Anyone have tips on where to get the transmitter for your car (that isn't so big/bulky) that is made for the 5th gen, since the plug/outlet is now on the right side?
also, i want a cover that i don't have to take the ipod out of so it won't get scratched - I am liking those silicone covers for the gym & car - but they don't protect the screen?
Last question - those with the larger ipods - do you prefer to wear on your waist or arm when working out? Thanks!
TIA for any advice - I am pretty excited bout my new toy (oh and my other new toy is a laptop for my bday from my Mom!)!!!
Thanks for the heads up! Yes, all the iTrips I have seen are only for the previous model - bt thanks cecilia! i ma going to look for the one you posted!

You'll want to put video on there eventually. Free tools: Fair Use Wizard (to grab a DVD off the disc) and Videora (to convert the file to ipod-format).

Most audio stuff is standard. Save money by buying inexpensive cables. (Can't find the link right now, but will update later, or a quick google will bring up some good choices.)

Be careful when running or working out with a full size ipod. It's got a working, moving hard drive in there. A jolt in the wrong direction could (potentially) cause a problem. A nano or a shuffle are more appropriate for working out because they have a solid memory chip in them, no moving pieces to damage.
That said, I drop _everything_, but my 2G is still in good working condition, because it's had a silicon case on it since I got it--and I only work out with myiAudio U2, which is a solid state memory player.
Hi I have the 60gb Photo and my boyfriend has the video one. I reccomend the agent 18 cover. It covers the screen but is still easy to operate the controls. I used to have one of the rubber slip-on covers but I like this hard case so much better.
That case looks interesting! I haven't bought one yet (I'm waiting for a silicon one that I can trust). Do you think it would protect from an accidental drop? I kinda like the cushion that the silicon cases have. Also, I read that it doesn't protect the top or bottom, is this true?
I'm not so sure about the DLO transmitter, though. I've bought other products from them and wasn't very happy. In contrast, I've never had a problem with Griffin (who sells a slightly less expensive competing item). Can you report back on how it works for you guys?
I've dropped my ipod a few times with that case and no problems. there is a cut out on the top and bottom (so that you can still plug things in) but it's not so bad that I feel it exposes the ipod to much...it's not the whole top and bottom that is exposed if that makes sense.
My boyfriend went with a different brand for an FM trans. (which he couldn't remember when I emailed him about it). He should be getting it soon and I'll let you know how well it works. I'm using him as a guinea pig too before I decide if I'm going to upgrade to the video or not!
Boyfriend went with this FM transmitter: http://xtrememac.com/audio/airplay2.shtml and he is not happy with it. It looks cool but it doesn't lock in so it falls out of the ipod easily also the reception isn't as good as itrip.
Thanx to everyone who responded! I really haven't had much time to work with the iPod. I got the iTrip from my sister who wanted to get it for me for xmas. It is horrible! She bought it from the Apple store so I need to go return/exchange it today. It plugs into the bottom and none of the radio stations come in clean. the static is louder than all the songs.
Another issue I am having, despite it seeming like the iPod is fully charged, it always says Do Not Disconnect. Then when I use it, it will go from full battery to 1/2 really quickly! Maybe 1 way of my work commute?
Haven't gotten a case yet, because my lazy a$$ hasn't gone to the gym in that long...Halah - the link you put up says i is expired? Thanks also for the BF update, that trnsmitter not so good too? I may just have to fork over the $$ to install the one in the glove compartment.
I have noticed that My battery meter thing goes down to half quickly, but it stays there for a long time(make sense). I think mine has the full 8-13hrs but the power level isnt as accurate as it should be. I also want to say for a longer lasting charge, and battery only charge it when the battery is dead. It has a certian amount of charge cycles in the battery and if you charge when it is partially full the charge doesnt last as long and the battery dies sooner. I hope I explained that ok.
