Great article on posing for photos
Permalink Closed

I found this article on how to pose people for photos.  The writer makes excelent points on how to posistion people like a professional (and of course, it's also usual knowledge on how to position yourself when somebody else is taking your picture too!)

Thought I'd share.

Thanks for posting! I'm such a disaster in most photos. I feel like I turn into Chandler Bing on that episode of friends where he and Monica are getting their engagement pics taken and he ends up with this weirdo expression on his face in every picture. Yep, that's me.

Taking pictures is so hard. I feel like things never look the same as they should - even if I am literally standing in front of the mirror, looking cute in the mirror, and taking a picture of the mirror (I realize how myspacey that sounds but I've done it if I want to text someone a pic of a haircut or a new dress), inevitably the picture does not look anywhere near how I would expect.

I recently discovered that my best "photo smile" is one that feels totally weird to do (and doesn't even look that great in real life if the mirror is any indication). When I smile naturally, I tend to open my mouth up vertically as well as horizontally and show some gums - but if I'm getting my picture taken, I try to open it up vertically just enough to show the top row of teeth, then smile wider horizontally than feels natural. It makes me wonder what else might look better if I did it a little unnaturally.

My best photo smile feels super awkward, too. But my natural smile is huge and crazy, and probably looks fine in real life, but in photos it just looks like all mouth.
