Favorite depilatories/hair removal cream?

I use Magic Cream on my bikini line sometimes and I like it, but it's a powder you have to mix up and it would be entirely too much of a pain (and probably expensive) to try to use it on my whole leg. But the idea of getting a bit longer between Nair-ings than I currently get between shaving is enticing, especially with the warm weather and some long weekends coming up!

Does anyone use these/have recs?

I currently use Sally Hansen Brush-On In-Shower Hair Remover cream. I'm at the end of my first tube and it seems to be working not quite as effectively as it did at first - it was amazing in the beginning - but I just discovered they have an extra strength version I'm going to try next. Also, they imply you can put it on and jump right in the shower, but I don't do that because it seems to wash off just as easily as any others, so I do the same as I've always done, which is apply, wait 10 minutes sitting on the edge of the tub, then turn on the shower. Despite these things, overall I really like it, especially because it has a built in brush thingy, so I don't make a giant mess. Less irritating than shaving, cheaper than waxing, and one of the best depilatories I've used. Not too stinky either.

I tried a few rands in the past - none of them worked: either didn't remove enough hair, or if i left it a tiny bit over time to increase the amount of hir removed - burnt my skin SERIOUSLY

I have very coarse hair (Italian side of fam) and pasty, white Irish skin. I have used the men's version of Nair and it works well. I put it on before I hop into the shower (give it about 8 minutes or so, I think). I don't just rinse it off. I usually use a washcloth to slough scrape it off. Seems to help take the hair with the cream and ensures that I truly got the stuff off my skin.

If you can leave it on for the max time without getting burned, that is the best situation cuz it takes care of the hair below the skin level. I know that doesn't work for everyone cuz this stuff can get pretty nasty. 

So much smoother with depilitories, right?!

Thank you thank you, valenciana and pollyjean23! That brush looks so convenient, and I also had no idea there was a men's version of Nair. I'm off to Target! I really hope one of those work for me because it would be so much nicer than shaving.

ITA with that. I just can't stand waiting around. However these days I have to bleach my moustache every two weeks or so. I might as well try a depilatory again and combine the two chores. (Multitasking.)

I don't blech ( it's white already), I remove, use Sally Hanson's hair removal cream for facial hair, once a week, 5-6 min...goes by really fast, smooth, no burns ( unless you're 2 min over time).

So! I tried the Brush-on version because that's what my Meijer had. It was kind of itchy the first day but I think maybe I didn't put enough of the stuff on - I left it on for the full 10 minutes but some of the hairs just broke off shorter instead of coming off completely. So then I had all this weird stubble catching on my clothes. In a few days I'll try again. I think once I get the hang of how much stuff to glop on, it'll be awesome!

that reminds me. I usually blob the stuff on quite liberally. It seems like a waste, but it's the only way it seems to work.

While lookin for that brush cream ( I didn't find one), so I opted for a Cooling cream, I think by the same Sally Hanson, blue cooling gel. So, I appplied generously, I did feel a cooling sensation. Didn't really work...maybe I'm a perfectionist & expect a completely smooth hair free area...It worked partially...didn't hold for long, just like shaving, but more messy & not as smooth...87% smooth...would estimate...

 That's exactly how all of those things work on me.  A lot of mess and still not as smooth as shaving (although less irritation.)  I'm going to give the Sally Hansen brush on a chance though because I really would like to find one that actually works for me.  I hate having to shave every morning.

I agree. Sorry, it wasn't Sally hanson cooling cream, but Nair. Anyway....will keep looking for that brush too...
