I was just talking to my boyfriend, who works at a sporting goods store, and he said that he has to be in work at 4am on Friday (the day after Thanksgiving... Black Friday). It got me to thinking...
Who's going out to score some good deals this year?
Count me out. I can't deal with Wal-Mart-like crowds on a regular day, so you won't catch me at the local department store at 6 in the morning. My mom, her sisters, and my sister go out every year, and I meet up with them for breakfast. They've scored some pretty good deals throughout the years, but nothing so mind-blowing that I would consider it.
I'll be in the mountains so it makes it easy, but I never go. I just don't think the hype / savings is worth it. All of the stores have sales all the way up until Christmas, so I just don't do it.

i'll be hanging out at my friend's ranch that day, so no shopping for me! but after several years working retail, there's no way i'd ever go shopping on black friday....shudder.
I'll go out, but just to a few stores around my house. My mom told me that 2 of the department stores in her mall are opening up at 2 AM!!!!!!!!! That's freaking insane. Most of the mall is opening up at between 3 and 7 am.
I never go - I just can't deal w/those crowds, and I honestly don't think anything's that worth it. When I Christmas shop, I write down all the ideas I want to get for people before I go. Most of the time, the stuff that's on sale the day after Thanksgiving isn't what I need to buy. But..I may run to Express though because if you buy something they are giving out a free clutch that's really cute!
i've actually scored some pretty good deals on black friday (especially last year), so i'll be out shopping. plus i'm hoping they'll have some sort of sale at bloomies so i can get my coat. i try and go early to avoid the crowds, but overall i enjoy the experience.
Oh, hell no!! I'm traumatized from my years of retail. I don't want any parts of shopping at malls on Black Friday or for most of the holiday season, for that matter. Thank goodness for the internet!
I have my walking shoes and big purse and cuopons ready! I hate to say it, but I wouldn't miss it! It is kind of a tradition for the women of the family though. Friday morning we get up and collect coupons and we all go shopping together. Me, my mom and her sis in law, my grandma and her sister. (And sometimes my brother, he is one of those metrosexual likes to shop types) We all shop for eachother and the males in the fam and we have a blast!! We try stuff on and laugh all day and use more coupons then we can count and have lunch together. We have "car runs" where 1 person will run the bags out to the car when we all have too many to carry. At the end of the day we all go to my grandmas house and have dinner and try to separate "who's bag is who's" Even though it is INSANE, we have so much fun!! I'm getting excited just thinking about all the deals!
But before you tag me as one of the "black Friday crazies" we DO NOT get up at the ass crack of dawn and wait in line to get into stores!!! We sleep in and go when we feel like it. Bring on the deals!!
I am soooo there! It's a tradition - we go every year . We get the paper for the week and look through all the ads to plan our attack, including strategic stops at Starbucks for their seasonally-flavored items. We usually hit up the buy one get one sales, and early bird stuff too. It really helps me get into the spirit .

I'll go only if I hear about some really crazy awesome sale, but otherwise I'm passing. My BF HATES crowds...we can barely handle a Costco filled with families on a normal Sunday. Forget Black Friday.
I voted no, but I may go on Saturday, mainly to people watch. I'll probably be tempted to buy things, and the long lines will help me decide if the deals are really worth it! i've never been to the stores the day after Thanksgiving.

I'm totally with you on this one LMonet! I get excited just looking at the ads
I work at a store in the mall so I have no choice but to be at work at 5:45am. Last year there was a big line before I even got to work! People are damn crazy for something measly like a $10 gift card. But working early has it's advantage because I get to buy early opening specials before the store opens...no crowds and I don't have to worry if there will be any left.
not this year. i actually plan on finishing my shopping tomorrow. (i'm so very close to being completely done)
i went last year. my mom picked me up at 4am and we drove to the nearest outlet mall that had a pottery barn —which is a good 1.5 hour drive from our house. i knew exactly what i wanted and made sure that they had it in stock the night before. we were in and out in a matter of 20 minutes. it was kinda fun, actually. mostly because i knew that i walked out of there with an insanely good deal on what i bought.
but i just cannot imagine going out without a plan. i just cannot deal with all the craziness.

That's awesome, hotcocoa. Are you this ahead of the game every year? I try to plan ahead, but I usually end up buying my last things in mid-December. I guess it could be worse!
