I love the hoildays but i miss my extened family that i can not see due to the distance and my work hrs. I am the type of person who loves to give and i get all exctied when i give a gift and i know they have been wanting it or they love it when it is opned. If i could afford it I would go to extremes on Christmas and get  more than my family and closet friends gifts and even buy all you ladies a awesome gift or just give you gift cards to your fav. store

i'm torn. i love this time of year b/c everything is just so pretty. i love the lights, the music, the whole she-bang, it just makes me so happy. i actually get giddy just thinking about it. i like gift shopping and love hunting down cool stuff for my family. it helps that there are just 4 of us in the states so i don't have to go into debt. i also usually pick up one of those angel things, and i *love* doing that too.

i always anticipate seeing my family -- it's the only time of year that we all get together. but i always forget the drama that comes along when everyone is together. we all get along, but it's almost inevitable that there will be one big fight over something. but my fingers are crossed this year, since last year we didn't fight about anything which was good, so i'm hoping that that was the beginning of a new tradition. plus this year my mom is going to be close to me, so i don't have to travel, and the best part, if i get bored i can just go home.

This year, I am hosting Thanksgiving for a couple of other misfits (which you are most welcome to join, Lisa ) who don't have family nearby.  For Christmas, FH and I are going to wakeu up early, make some coffee, play Christmas music, an open presents at our leisure.  Followed by our very own Christmas dinner, complete with the pumpkin pie and eggnog that is contraband at my parents house. I'm just glad to be able to do it MY way for once, and not have to cater to what everyone else wants/needs/thinks for a change.  There will plenty more years for that, I'm sure .

AWW! That sounds awesome, Lmonet. I'm with the girls who get sappy about the holidays... I love it all... I don't get much stress because I don't have a big family, and my BF and I haven't been together long enough to have to deal with splitting time at each other's houses. I am beyond excited to go home for Thanksgiving this week. I just want to sit on the couch and do nothing for two days, and just watch TV and giggle at random stuff with my family. Bliss.

Happy and excited!  I love putting up Christmas decorations, the tree, and lights. :) It also inspires me to cook some more interesting things and make spiced wine, etc.  This will be Christmas #2 for hubby and I.    The holidays also make a great excuse to eat my weight in food that's bad for me and to buy stuff that normally I would run screaming from when I looked at the price tag.

But I do agree with Nylabelle about the commercialism.  Retailers put the word "collectible" on all sorts of cheap, worthless junk, and people will line up to buy it.  *shudder*  I almost died when I saw "collectible" Christmas stuff at CVS.

Add me to the list of Bah-humbugers.

Voted happy, but gotta add anxious about shopping for hard to buy for people.....my list of gift recipients is long, my own decision, and I feel stupid if I don't find "perfect" gifts.

i love the anticipation- I LOVE after thanksgiving thru dec. 24.  The holiday spirit, the decorations, the heightened excitement in the air, holiday food, holiday parties, christmas movies, gift giving/receiving, everything, excitement about seeing my family.  However, i'm always really miserable as christmas is happening- its always kind of a letdown, my family is also pretty small so i miss out on huge family gatherings, and when its over, a whole year must pass for it to happen again.  i'm usually depressed til after the new year, and then i forget about it.
