ok, i know we've talked about this...but i was wondering if BE ladies thought it would be worth it to buy the $60 starter kit (comes with a few brushes, and smaller versions of foundation, mineral veil, warmth, etc) or that the other products aren't that great, and i'd be better off with just the mineral veil in a full size. Is the brushes that the kit comes with useful? does anyone have the kit? also, i'm pretty fair but tan easily- is the light a good set of colors? i dont want to look like a ghost.
I just ordered myself the starter kit but I haven't received it yet--so I'm not sure about which is better for you to order. I did want to comment on the color though--the makeup artist at Sephora chose "light" for me but I would never consider myself to be fair. I have olive skin and it isn't tan right now because I haven't been out in the sun much lately but I am still darker than someone with fair skin. She said I can darken up my foundation with warmth if I need to later if I'm tan but the next foundation up had too much pink in it and I needed something with more yellow in it. So I don't think light would make you look like a ghost--I asked her the same thing and she said it was fine on me.
go for the kit, it's a lot of fun. the mineral veil is nice, but no more so than many other loose powders out there. the best thing about b.e. is the coverage you can get from the powder, in a way that doesnt look too cakey or layered on. if all you want is a powder to set your foundation or to blot any oiliness, go for something cheaper than b.e. if youre looking for make up, get the kit. i am pretty fair, and only use the lighter of the two that came in the kit. between both colors (and the warmth) you should be able to find a matching shade. hth!

I am naturally sort of fair with golden undertones but I have a California perma-tan (not by choice) and use light 2...medium/medium tan is actually WAY too dark on me. I bought the kit since I wanted to give the warmth and bisque a try but haven't received it yet.
I like mineral veil on its own well enough, but I think that other powders do just as nice of a job setting foundation. Right now I'm using Stila Illuminating Powder Foundation for that purpose and I really like it.
i bought the kit but back a few years ago i never really liked it on me maybe i was not applying it right, but i like the mineral veil and for the brushes i love them i still use them i have the two fat brushes but i used them for my blush and the other smaller brushes are great for my eyes
I would get the starter kit. I loved the one I got -- I think the brushes are pretty nice. I like the bisque concealer brush and the foundation brush. I had several brushes already so I sold the kabuki brushes on ebay for $15 apiece, the MD Formulations for $3 and the makeup bag for $17 on ebay. So that was $50 and I got to keep all the other stuff for $10 bucks. Just be sure to cancel the membership b/c they keep sending it to you.
Let me know if you turn out to be Light #2, I am 1.2 and have a #2 that is brand new I could trade.
There are some good reviews on makeup alley.

Get the kit. I've tried a lot and love it all. I'm not sure if it comes in the kit you are looking at but get the bisque and the brush that goes with it. Love. I still want the kabuki brush.

Def. get the starter kit. I use everything in it and love mine! My only gripe is that I feel like I can't travel w/the makeup b/c it will turn into a mess...
I totally agree with getting the kit. You get all those nice brushes and the makeup. A girl and I at Sephora debated with eachother about the benefits of it, and we both got the kit. It is different to get used to than liquid makeup, but the thing I really like is my fingers don't get all messy anymore! I love my kit : ) It's also really helped out my complexion.
