Free the Girls: Donate bras to help women
Permalink Closed

A friend introduced me to this organization.  I was actually going to get rid of some bras soon  I'd much rather mail them here and help someone than just throw them away.  They supply the used bras to women in Africa who were victims of  sex trafficing.  Apparently they supply the woman with an inital set of bras to sell second hand and they have the woman use some of the proceeds to fund a safe house to live in and offet the cost of obatining subsequent sets to continue her business.

I've done a little research and the organization look legit.  They are a non for profit and have been featured on CNN recently (which is where my friend learned about them.)   I thought that I'd pass it along in case anyone else had some bras they were getting rid of.

GIVE A BRA

When you donate a bra, you give a former slave a job. It is that simple.

We work alongside safe houses around the world that rescue women from sex trafficking and provide rehabilitation services. Your donation helps survivors of human trafficking make a living selling used clothing while they recover and build their new life.

We accept gently used bras of all sizes and styles, including athletic bras, nursing bras , and camisoles.  Click here to download a form to print and enclose with your donation.  (At this time, all bras need to be be mailed to our U.S. office only.  Click here for more information on this.)

Ooh, thanks! I hate throwing them away but feel kind of weird donating to Goodwill or whatever. I will definitely look into this!
