I've seen really dark brown, almost black furniture paired with chocolate brown wallos, and light wood furniture, but I think a lot of the time designers use metal furniture with chocolate.
What overall feel are you going for? I just painted my bathroom chocolate brown, and I think brown looks great against it, just depends on the shade. And I might paint my vanity an ivory crackle, so maybe painted furniture is an option for you.
FP, if you get around to it, would you mind taking a picture of your brown room?
i guess i'm wanting it to be simple. clean lines and a great bed. in my mind i have brown walls, green & cream window treatments, cream and brown bed linens with green pillows?, maybe some simple art on the walls, and a green plant or something.
i'm not good at the decorating thing. i think i'm going to have to use a decorator. that's how bad i suck at this stuff.

I am thinking of doing the same thing but with red. I want cream furniture, so if I ever change my mind I won't need new furniture. I thought that was a pretty good idea. ETA: For some CRAZY reason I thought you were doing over a living room or something. I also really like the espresso furniture idea, but I like metal accents with espresso dressers, etc.

and if you click on "Click here to see other fabrics" you can see it in (my top picks), apple velvet, butter twill, celery twill, off white twill or duck or even khaki twill. It's flash so I can't post those pics. Here's a link:
Ok, starting a new post cause that last one was getting long and I was afraid of losing it...
I like the idea of simple bedding, maybe have an off white duvet/comforter and accent w/green and brown pillows/shams and maybe a throw at the end of the bed.
Some ideas for art:
Anyway, you get the idea.
Oh, and here's pics of my bathroom (still a work in progress, need art, gonna get the tile redone, new light fixtures, etc):
thanks so much FP. your bathroom looks great. i think i'm going to have to go with a metal frame. i wanted either leather or wood, but the metal looks better.
as for the art, i think you picked some great stuff. it's still about 6 weeks away, but i'm trying to do this within a budget.
again FP, thank you for your help and i will be back in a few weeks asking you more questions :)
