I just joined a few days ago but basically it seems to me like you just create "boards" (which are usually themed around a specific topic, like recipes or wedding planning or shoes) and you use them sort of like inspiration boards or folders. You can "pin" something you found online, or you can browse what other people are pinning (if you go to the top and hover over "Everything" you can choose a topic to browse) and then re-pin it to one of your own boards to save it for yourself.

And if you follow somebody, the stuff they pin shows up on your homepage.

I just joined but honestly haven't figured out how to use it yet. I'll follow you though! Hopefully I'll start setting up my page soon. Any pointers? It looks like you can have lists of basically anything that interests you?

 I think everybody "has" a page if you have an account, but you probably just aren't using yours. If you're logged in, click your avatar on the top right to see your page.

Me, I love it! I use the iPhone app all the time but am definitely a browser more than a contributor. I do like pinning things I want to remember and one of my resolutions is to transition to pinterest from kaboodle.

So I finally started 2 boards there. Much easier than I thought. And wow, it's odd what people will re-pin! Apparently a photo of Thomas Keller's fried egg sandwich is extremely popular! I mean, it looks really yummy and I do love a fried egg sandwich, but who would have thought so many people wanted it on their board too?

I've pinned a grand total of four things. I remember why I don't like it as much as Polyvore - it signs me in under my real name, which inhibits me.

Really?! I went to high school with her! Do you know about her twins, and her son?

 I keep up with her through FB here and there.  Mainly read the blog about Jack.    We lost touch when her mom passed away a few years ago and they sold the house.  Where did you go to HS?  I can't remember where she went (she was 3 years behind me in school I think.)  I went to Guerin, class of 90.

 

Damn, small world, huh?
