Cake ideas
Permalink Closed

My sister and I are putting on a 60th birthday party for our mom. We're inviting about 12-15 ladies for appetizers, sit-down dinner, and cake. I am having trouble picturing ideas for an attractive cake. Something that we can show a local baker and have made. Have you seen any pretty cakes lately that could serve as inspiration? If you have any ideas to contribute, that would be fab. Thanks!

This is what we ended up doing for my mom's bday cake. It turned out very nice. That's a J on the top. My sister had those awesome burgundy sparkler candles. They were perfect. My mom loves burgundy. Thank you for your suggestions.

Very elegant. The sparkler candles are such a fun touch.

Inside was just buttercream cake and buttercream frosting in between layers. Ordering this cake was an experience because my sis and I had never heard of buttercream cake before. Turns out, when you add creme bouquet to a plain vanilla cake mix, it turns it into buttercream flavored cake.

OMG.  A buttercream flavored cake. I need one of these.

Kenzie - It was quite good. It's a little more interesting than vanilla. The cake was very dense, but I don't think that had anything to do with the flavor.
