Abbreviations/Short-hands you use
Permalink Closed

I dunno if this will be helpful to anyone else, but I know lots of times there are abbreviations that some of you girls use that I have no idea what it means! (Such as HTH- which I figured out means hope that helps) So, my question to everyone is what kinds of short-hands do you use and what do they mean? I use HTH (now) and sometimes TIA (meaning thanks in advance, right?). Hope this helps any other confused members!!

IMO - In my opinion

JMO - Just my opinion

OTOH - On the other hand

IRL - In real life

SOL - Shit outta luck

LOL - Laughing out loud

HTH !

I remember when I first started coming to Stylethread and I would see TIA at the bottom I thought that was their name.  Quite a few TIAs on here.  What a fool

I rarely use these because I don't want to develop a habit of using them outside of message boards and email, but I am pretty good at figuring them out.  Girlfriends and I used to use similar ones in classroom notes back in middle and high school.  BFF!!

Question:

I've seen a few of you ladies refer to a guy as DH...what does that mean? The best thing I can think of is "divorced husband"

For the longest time, IIRC and ITA would throw me - I never could remember what they stood for! Now I finally have those straight in my head.

I use BTW (By The Way) a lot - my DH introduced me to that one when we were dating. He finds it amusing that I also - with him only - use G2G (Got to Go) because our teenage niece introduced us to that.
