Hey all, I have an iPod mini (thanks to everyone who helped me pick it out over the summer!!) and now I want to get the speakers to make it my home stereo. I really like the Bose sound dock, but its a little pricey for me right now.
Also check out http://www.ilounge.com, there's an accessories tab with ratings of all the speakers you can think of. My recommendation is to stay with Harman Kardon/JBL or Creative. They're (in my opinion) the best price for performance ratio, you should be able to get awesome sound for $150.
Note: coincidentally, there is a review of several under-$200 speaker sets specifically for ipods just posted to the main page.
I have the JBL OnStage and love it- it has wonderful sound (no buzzing or anything like the cheaper speakers I bought from apple before and it goes loud enough to completely fill my apartment) and the dock charges the ipod as well. I did a lot of research on ipod lounge, etc. before I decided and this seemed to be the best in the price range I was looking at (I've heard the bose are great, but they were a bit pricey for me as well). Whatever you end up deciding to get, check buy.com first for prices . I ended up getting my JBL for a lot cheaper there ($99) than it was on the Apple site (buy.com often has codes as well!). Here's a link to the JBL:
