i checked this book out of the library the other day. what a great book! we're not broke, but we are getting our finances in order so that i can be a SAHM and it's definitely been helpful!

erin, anything to share with another soom to be SAHM? I may go to Borders on my lunch and check this out....
I think I've raved about Suze on this forum before. I think it's a great book and makes a lot of sense. She's got some great advice about paying off debt. We're not broke either, but her advice is still pretty applicable and it's good for planning purposes.
itsapinkthing: well i guess one thing that she mentioned that's helpful that wasn't really about being a SAHM, but i think it correlates as well. this was for buying a house and she mentions to put aside the money that you would be spending on a house vs. renting and seeing if it is an affordable option. ie., if renting is 1000 per month, but a house is 1200 per month, put aside the extra 200 per month before buying and see how it goes. so i guess in theory you could put your income in a separate account that you don't touch and see how you guys do before you take the plunge?
there was definitely some great advice if you have any credit card debt on how to manage that. (which i do not, but we have our mortgage and two car loans...sometimes it seems overwhelming)
