Stocking Stuffers?
Permalink Closed

I need inexpensive ideas for stocking stuffers for my boys and the oldest's girlfriend.  My boys are 13 and 19. The girlfriend is 19 also.  Here's what I usually get:

favorite candy

socks

toothbrush

and honestly I'm not sure what I've done in the past. I guess more expensive things but now that's not an option.  Any ideas girls? TIA

lip gloss or nail polish for the girlfriend.

General ideas or things I've gotten in the past from my in laws (my folks never really did stockings):

ornament

sd card or thumb drive

hot cocoa packets, small snacks, candy

coffeehouse gift card

those mitten/boot packets that get warm

lock de-icer

chapstick, small cosmetics

socks, mittens, gloves

candle

my MIL always puts an orange in the stocking. Some sort of old family tradition

If the 19 year olds drink coffee, a $5 GC to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks would work.

Some movie theaters also sell GCs. A $10 one will pay for a whole movie.

Fun toothbrushes like the kind that spin (you need a new one every 3-4 months anyway!)

A small silly game/toy (check out the Dollar Store, they always have fun stupid things like pop guns or silly puddy or a slinky.)

Key ring

Lip balm (my brothers love the Carmex in the tin. It's a yellow tin, is only about $1.50 and doesn't look girly.)

If either of your sons likes cologne, you can always go to Sephora and have them make a sample of a new one for them to try.

Things for the girlfriend:

  • warm socks
  • purse-sized hand moisturizer (unscented, just in case of allergies)
  • chapstick (I really like the Burt's Bees Beeswax)
  • little pre-made baking recipes (the kind where you just have to add eggs or milk or something like that), check a Williams Sonoma or similar place.

Things for the boys:

  • I love the idea of DVDs, there's always a $5 bin at Kmart.
  • Boys love candy and chocolate, right? That's always a good thing.
  • Ugh, boys are hard. I have no idea what to get boys!

How about going to a 99 cent store and making it goofy and random? Playing cards with kittens on them, ugly mugs, boy band action figures, etc.?

Granted, my boy is only 8, but I'm with Suasoria! I hit up Target's dollar spot and dollar stores all year long and keep a little box handy full of small gifties to pull from. I usually find small toys and fidgets, and then try to put in something slightly useful.
Sizewise, stockings are the right size for chapsticks, keychains, mini-flashlights, lighters, etc...
Maybe look online...FredFlare or thinkgeek have lots of little items.
