It's that time of year when my mother and family start asking what I want for Christmas. I'm definitely a person that buys what I want, when I want it, so it is hard to come up with a list each year. I thought I might get some inspiration from all of you....what is on your list this year? I need a range of options from $20 on up.
I do know of one perfume I want, and I've decided to refrain from just buying it, and putting it on the list. But what else should I be thinking of?
Is there anything you need for your kitchen? What about a crockpot to get you through the cold winter (assuming you are in a cold place...I forget where you live )
Is there anything you don't like to spend money on? I pretty much buy what I want, but for some reason I hate spending money on robes, socks, pajamas, and pillows. So if someone asks me what I want this year, that's what I'm saying!

Just to add on perfume: recently ran out of my every day perfume ( I use separate for night out, fancy and every day), so...couldn't afford the whole bottle of the new fragrance I liked, but it came in a roll - much cheaper & I enjoy it. Now it's a popular thing: Sephora has a nice selection of upscale perfumes in a roll. & it's around $20
Re: other gifts for $20 & up....shawls (cool print or interesting yarn), hm....I"m spoiled - I'd like things that are way North of $20....another clutch, wallet, knee hight boots ( in black &/or cognac). Jewerly ( always, doesn't matter which holiday:))), another watch....
I do love art & design books and albums for gifts. I know not everybody appreciates them...I just treated myself to a gorgeous Art Deco book.
Anything from Anthropologie...even their kitchen/dining items. LOVE them!
Fancy wineglasses. I'm down to 3 crystal stems, and 2 of them have tiny chips. I wouldn't turn down a set of double old fashioneds, either. I bought a pile of cheap stems from World Market, so I'm covered for guests, but my husband and I like to booze it up in better style.
There are a few books and other things that I have been him-hawing about, and that's what I'm putting on the list. I usually enjoy GC's too, so that's helpful for holiday lists that are hard to complete.
I might see if anyone wants to get me a food dehydrator! The one I'll probably get is from Nesco, and my mom freaks out about that brand (she's a big QVC nut).
I always like it when people help me stock up on higher-cost toiletries (not high-end) that I don't enjoy buying on my own. For example, CeraVe Lotion, which I use on my body AND face, costs as much as $14/bottle at the drug store. I will ask for those, but it's not fun for family members to buy.
I'll probably take a picture of my favorite earring. Yes, I wrote earring - - singular. I lost the other one. I'll see if my mom or sister can find something similar.
I unofficially inherited my dad's record collection. He used to work in a record store when he was a young man (apx 1970), so his collection is (1) nicely sized and (2) unique because of all the promo copies. Plus, he inherited his parents' records, so we've got Cream, Jefferson Airplane, Vanilla Fudge, and Rosemary Clooney. I would like to start (again) buying my own albums for play on a turntable (which I will buy myself). Sooo......(five days later)...I'll see if my mom or sis want to buy me some albums to help me get my collection started. I want my first return-to-vinyl to be either III/IV by Ryan Adams & the Cardinals or something from my beloved John Frusciante.
I'm taking extra time writing this post because my mom is hounding me for a list, and I can't picture myself sitting down to do this anytime soon. This is a good post. Thanks for putting it up.
I've been wanting a shower filter, but that's no fun.
There are a bunch of books my instructor recommended to me. I'll put those on the list too.
I really want (but don't want to buy) some queen size flannel sheets. We got twin flannel sheets for our kids' beds and they are such good quality that I want some now. Also a stick blender (for soups), pizza stone - I'm in the same boat as you. I tend to stay away from clothes & accessories b/c I'd rather pick those out myself.
It's hard coming up with ideas at first but when I start shopping for other people I always find things I would like. I'll post more ideas as they come to me.
Kelly - actually a crockpot is a brilliant idea! Mine recently got broken (the pan inside broke).
I should clarify that all things on my list don't have to be $20, but I like to add in a few of those items on the list for extended family that doesn't spend a lot.
I have added houseshoes to the list too. I don't know why this is so hard for me.
I also tend to buy what I want, but live with a pretty tight budget. So I use a Christmas list for things that I'd love to have but don't necessarily need.
Crate & Barrel
I like this set of stemless wine glasses for $17.70 on sale right now (normally $20)
These tumbleers are also cute
$2.95 each
I have this set of appetizer plates that I use for parties
$22.95 for a set of 12
But I'm kind of liking these Wink appetizer plates. The shape is fun.
$2.50 each
And I would love to get a set of this wine holding plate
$8.95 each
I have a set of these chili bowls that I love. They also work as soup bowls or for serving moderate amounts of vegatbles on a table (sometimes serving bowls are just too large)
$3.95 each
Last year I got this slate cheese tray from my bff. The medium is just the right size to serve 2 or 3 cheeses and extras like crackers or fruit.
$19.95
Williams Sonoma
I reall want a pizza stone. Not sure which one I want though. I'm leaning towards this one.
$99
And because I love to grill but can't justify the price of an actual smoker, this smoke box
It's funny because I'll see things and I'll start thinking "Ooo this is what I should tell so and so what I want" then when it comes to them asking I go blank.
I'm telling my siblings they can't go wrong with gift cards, whether it be for my place or for clothes I'll be happy. I told my hubby of a perfume but thats because he dragged it out of me. He already spent $500+ on a plane ticket so he can spend Christmas with me so I told him that would be the best gift already.
I so a really cute jewelry holder at Costco for like $20 that I told my mom I would love, a peacoat, Chi straightner since I haven't bought it for myself. Just think about things that are sold at Sephora or Ulta and maybe you'll think of a gift set they can give you of perfume or makeup.
