My coworkers joined a weight loss center and their 1st wk took 1 water pill every day. Now they reduced their intake to 1 - 3x per wk as part of their *vitamin* regimen. Isn't it unsafe for you body or SKIN, to keep taking them regularly as your body naturally holds a normal amount of water? But they keep assuring me that the "nurse" at the weight loss center says it's ok to take them a few xs per week.
Does anyone take these? Is it safe to continue taking them as part of your regular lifestyle? Mr. Burns from the Simpsons keeps popping into my head: His body shriveling up when the water was sucked out of him and his assistant spraying him with a water bottle and his skin's elasticity returning.
I am not too familiar with water pills, but it doesn't sound like something that would be worthwhile. I am pretty up on diets, vitamins.. and have a regular PT as well as one of my best friends is a nurse.. and no one has ever recommended them to me??
Also, aren't most people told to cut back on salt to AVOID issues like water weight? Wouldn't a water pill put on water weight?
I know water is beneficial.. I would just drink it by the glass already! Who needs another pill!
Water pills are a bunch of bunk. They cause your body to shed water, making you weigh less but it's only water weight that you're losing. If you happen to get very bloated around your period or something, they can provide temporary relief. Cutting back on salt and drinking *more* water actually helps with bloating too, and is much healthier for you than taking a pill to purposefully dehydrate your body .
Nurse my a$$! IMO you were right to be suspicious of their claims BQ.
