So what do you think of this? Would you change the matting or frame? Finished frame size is 31x31 inches. I would put this on the wall behind the sofa. Any other suggestions for art? (photos of my living room on another post)
I would get something a tad more horizontal, or possibly group 2 or 3 prints so it doesn't look like its just floating there. I like the print for the room, but not sure about the frame or matting, might be too dark for the room. I'm a big believer in the idea that art should mean something- so don't just stick something on the wall if its not a piece you're crazy about. What are your favorite artists, colors, art movements- maybe find a few things you love and then see what would work best with the room. Also try checking flea markets and such for unique pieces and frames. I prefer unframed canvases and old frames to your standard frame. Do you have any family art you could hang there, or maybe a grouping of family photos? What about a pretty mirror?
I was trying to look for somthing horizontal but that is tough. There is another print that goes with this one, it would go on the right side. I really like these prints, I have been eyeing them a few months. It reminds me of this image (don't know where it comes from, maybe a dream but I have had it since a small child) of me my sister and mother in a grassy field of flowers, very beautiful. Anyways, I choose chocolate matting since the wood in the room is espresso color.
i like it a lot, but i think that you need something larger to anchor that room. it's a big room and your furniture is large, so something small-ish like that might get lost. i agree with lynnie--something more horizontal would work better in the room.
Okay I figured out there are more frame choices than black. Here is a dark brown frame. I still think two of these will fill up the wall pretty good. Get out your measuring tapes, because I think 33x33 inches is rather large. Total for both with shipping and a 20% off code is $331.86. I hate spending that much money considering the actual prints are only $22 each. Maybe I should just buy the prints and find a place to get framing for cheap.
you had said they were 31 x 31. even at 33 x 33, i think it's too small with just one, but if you get the two prints and hang them next to each other, that will be great.
you can definitely get them matted and framd for less than that price, though.
I think you should get the prints by themselves. You can go to Garden Ridge or somewhere like that I just buy those frames with the ugly pics for way more cheap. Take off the old ones and put in the new prints. You can probably find frames for like $30.
do you have a Michael's Arts and Crafts nearby? I know every week they have specials, and sometimes their framing specials are amazing- like 50% off custom framing. I'd have to say though that it is expensive usually. I'd buy the prints first and try to get them framed nearby so that you can look at the frames/mats next to the print in person, and also so large, heavy framed prints wouldn't have to be shipped to you.
Nice prints. And I like the second frame better. And agree about needing both of them. I work in an art and custom framing shop and $330 for both framed is a really good price. Although it may be better to pick out mats in person, I'd like to see a softer mat on them, but the color of your walls may be tough to work with as far as a different mat color.

$330 is a good price to have them both framed.
my only suggestion would be to increase the size of the matting to about 4 inches instead of the standard (is it 2 inches?). i did this with the last lithograph i had framed and it elevated the whole look. it might make it more "art-gallery" and less "$22 framed poster".
