I ran the Marine Corp Marathon today and it was my first time ever running that distance (the most I've ever done is 5 miles). I was pretty happy with my time as well but mostly I'm just glad I finished. I also raised a ton of money for the Whitman Walker Clinic, which provides services to those suffering from AIDS. So it was a two for one deal. I'm glad I finished and I'm glad I was able to raise the money.
If anyone is ever thinking about doing a marathon but is discouraged because you think you may be out of shape or you've never run a day in your life. Trust me, if I can do it...so can you.
I was just thinking the other day about running one - I hate running - but I feel like it would be a huge accomplishment (not to mention get me back into shape). What made you decide to do it? How did you train?
Well I decided to do it initially because I gained a bunch of weight after I got married. I was just so fed. The cause was just an added benefit...
Whitman Walker Clinic will actually train you..I think in NY there is Team in Training. You follow a schedule they provide you. We actually used the Jeff Galloway training schedule
and that's how I built up my endurance. You should go for it!! I think you would really enjoy it. You can PM me if you have any questions.

Ayo, that's fantastic! Running a marathon is definitely on my to-do list. But I think my emotional marathon needs to calm down a bit before I try to concentrate on a physical one.
wow that is great i need to get back into running- i started last year and i got up to jogging a mile that is pretty good for my first attempt- But yes it is harder on the body but i feel great afterwards i need to get in that and stay off this computer
