I have a pink hoodie that I love and fits great, but the color is just too much. It is a bright Pepto pink. I put it on, walk around the house for a while and then change before I leave. I would looooooove to dye it black. I am pretty sure it will dye well, but I just wanted a second, or third, opinion. It is 97% cotton and 3%spandex. I have only ever dyed 100% cotton before (jeans) and that dyes well. Anyone have experience with dying other fabrics?
I've tried to dye things black before but it never really seems to work. Everything turns out a weird dark green/purple/greyish color. FWIW I'm pretty sure I've only ever used rit dye, maybe a craft store would have something better?

hi! I dyed fabrics about 25 years ago, had a lot of experience. So, I don't know what's available in dyes on the current market. However, if it has spandex, & generally you can dye cotton - spandex will shine through. Also, hoodie probably has a zipper...that will not catch. Although can come out an interesting combo - many dying mistakes turned into a cool look...you never know.
