My 24th bday was on Sunday.. and we were stuck on that god-awful cruise. (See General Chat). My hubby tried to make it really special.. He had our room decorated with streamers and balloons, he ordered us a bottle of campagne at dinner and paid the Meriatchi (sp) band to come to our table and sing Happy Birthday to me. Then we had chocolate cake for dessert.
All of that was very sweet and I am so in love with him.
I thought being away on my birthday (just the two of us) would be fun. But it really wasn't.
I think I would rather be at work and have my co-workers and friends calling me all day to say Happy Birthday. I just really missed all of the attention from so many people simply saying "happy birthday". I never thought it was that big of a deal to me, but I guess it is! I'm not big on parties and stuff but I just feel special when a lot of ppl say "Happy Birthday".
Towards the end of the day, I was almost getting mad at the strangers on the ship, like they should have been able to tell it was my birthday just by looking at me. And they weren't saying "happy birthday" to me on purpose. Silly, I know.. But that's just me!
Thank god for DH or else I probably would have been a total wreck!
I'm with you - I'd rather be at work or something! Your husband sounds like he did great, but I am completely against those people who think you should have a holiday / day off of work for for the BD - I want the attention!
So sorry it wasn't all you wanted it to be. Happy belated b-day though!

Aw, bad birthdays suck.... Next year let's plan huge, obvious attention-soliciting parties for ourselves - with invitations that state "gifts encouraged..."
